Cliff Horses

Unlucky, Eddie.

Is two a big enough sample to prove that our Cliff Horses aren't just throwing good money after bad??

I wasn't confident beforehand but now I fear all hope is completely lost :D.

To be fair I've only thrown a score at it out of misguided loyalty - although he's never actually won for me - and I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding the need to understand why they lose and yet in this case I think i'ts fairly obvious. Ever since that impressive romp in the ironically entitled "Future Champion Novices Chase" I've simply been fooled into thinking he's better than he really is.

Today I fear is the day we go our separate ways and pound to a penny he bolts up in March.

Good post on the need to understand why your selections get turned over, EC1, but it's almost at odds with what a Cliff Horse is all about; the point about Cliff Horses being that you back them despite knowing that it's against your better judgement. Also, please keep this thread for Cliff Horses only, rather than general fancies - there are plenty enough threads already, to cater for those.

Ericht is exactly the type of horse I'd expect to see in this thread, Lee - I will consider him a qualifier for scoring purposes.

Surprised Buywise wasn't put up on here by someone today. Connections must be tearing their hair out.

Vintage Vinnie today. Possibly not quite a cliff horse yet, but he's well on his way.

2nd at 9/2, Bonjers - not bad.

Mozoltov is returtned to 2m for the Tied Cottage today - going the wrong direction with him in terms of trip, imo.

I've had a couple of nice results from Silsol in the past but he's approaching the category of cliff horse now

Edit Ffos las now off. Shocking disregard for those traveling after passing the earlier inspection

One of mine running today in the 9.05 at Dundalk. Konig Hall has been dropped back onto the flat after failing to convince over hurdles (despite winning at 20/1 on debut). Currently trading at 28/1, and I'm not having a bet on him. You watch...

I most certainly will not watch, Len.

No Flatties - especially if they are failed hurdlers. It's like a bloke trying burds, and then deciding he likes the boabby after all.

:nono::nono:

My cliff horse Never Again ran poorly enough last Saturday but trainer told me the ground was barely raceable, she barely gets two miles the race probably came a little quick after her earlier efforts.
She will be rested , get handicapped and go forth as a dual purpose prospect.

Mall Dini is probably not in cliff horse territory just yet, but could be by the end of the season.

Love the way he travels and jumps through his races, and I think the drop to 2m4f will help today. If he doesn't do the business today, I won't be going in with him again (...until Punchestown, where the better ground should be right up his street.) Mullins could potentially be unleashing his Martin Pipe horse in the same race I see.
