The days of Peter O'Sullivan "You've never heard a reception like it" in every other big race are well behind us.

I know I could watch UK TV, Racing Tv and ATR etc but I cose to only watch the races on Betfair and Aussie racing at Racing.com so I don't know one from another to be honest.

I am interested to know who regular watchers like most when it comes to Presenters and Commentators as I do think there are so many top class ones these days.

As I can watch all the re[;ays later

Mund you the Irish fella at Navan today comes across as a bit of a looney........"He won pulling a cart he screamed at the top of his lungs in the last race"

I went to a phase of muting Mark Johnson but in fairness to him he can make some very astute observations about horses pulling very hard on the way to the start or going conditions. He brings something to the party.
I couldn't speak highly enough about John Blance -a shrewd observer of the game on three continents.
The Aussie commentators are class.

I like how Aussie and US commentators actually commentate like they're watching a race.

Hoiles tends to converse his way through them and I don't like it, especially since he's all over the place with his reading.

I miss Simon Holt on big days

Over here, I think Richard Pugh has a really good knowledge and can lay out the reality of a race well.

I like when a jockey takes over comes during a race like Ruby or Barry.

The best commentary I remember in recent years, was when rte's feed to limerick fell in Christmas 22 (I think) and Ruby was left to just give his thoughts on what each jockey was thinking. It was riveting.

I think Mark walsh won on Brasil without checking.

I was watching the French racing at Autiel and the commentator constantly stammered through the race....Strange.

Australian flat racing is in some ways years ahead of uk racing when it comes to watching it live.............there's no bullshit about a horses chances when cleary beat, they don't make up stupid excuses and call it as they see it plus you are never left in doubt what has won in a photo as they post up the photo finish within seconds of them crossing the line and you never get any of them saying I'll leave that one to te judge.lol

I have to admit that when Ruby talks I listen
