Daily picks.

be interesting to see how easily Eltezam wins today..i get the Birchwood race as probably one of the best 2yo races this year ...there was the headwind issue that day so it may be misleading but i think Birchwood is best 2yo at the moment if correct..120 figure after mark up...and Eltezam potentially a 118. If those figures are right then Eltezam could win by far enough for them to shorten odds in the Coventry market..which will shorten Birchwood up in process

the birchwood form just gets better..shala just won at newmarket..and beaverbrook at chester..birchwood will win the coventry imo

Ridge ranger

Nice debut from winner trained by one of my fav sprint trainers eric alston,i'm always looking out for the odd one or two of his just incase he has a nice progressive handicapper.Ridge ranger gave these a 4l start where the psce was holding up in the sprints,so did well to win by 3ls quite convincingly at finish. There was rain at the meeting so hard to compare times but looking at the 5th race it looks as though it may have been mainly drizzle as times weren't affected that much throughout the evening. This half sister related to lots of winners invincible ride, ridge wood, full mandate, danidh Dubai and badr al badoor, the winning time was .69 slower than jamesbos girl rated 74 in the older handicap that time maybe better than it looks as she herself is regaining her form was 89 rated 2013.
The mark of the 3yr old would be a guestimate but an opening mark of 75 would seem workable as she did win convincingly with lots of improvement to come.

Lovely stuff that's 16/1 and 10/30 this season and an unlucky second!!!;)

Peacock

Peacock hadn't looked anything special until 3rd to nafaqa and toocoolforschool, the winner now rated 109 after runner up to elm park and the runner up rated 113 after 7l win
in a group 2 obviously the mile trip today has shown to suit peacock whether he can make an impact in group races against the plethora of good 3yr olds this season probably unlikely as so many decent improvers,it looks like the 3yr old races are going to be very competotive this season. What might be more interesting is oif he can't make an impact on the turf and returns to the aw,he absolutely hacked up today, the time very good for 4 horse race probably what you would expect for horse rated 106 but there was a lot more to come and on these surfaces he should be one to follow.Todays winning time was .19 quicker than the older class 2 handicap, probably what you would expect but the time doesn't really do him justice as couldv'e been 4/5ls better than that form which would be exceptional. The sire paco boys just starting to run up a profile on these surfaces these may well be where he picks up the nice prizes and a possibility he may just be tried out on dirt as well which would leave even more options.
I would be keeoping a close eye on him especially if the turf races are to good for him as there looks an alternative option for him and he could be group class on dofferent surfaces. At worst i would expect to see him back at kempton for a few of the aw listed races run later in the year, perhaps optimistically to see if he improves enough maybe for even breeders cup...

And a little double with the peacock!!!!:ninja::lol::cool:

Mubtaghaa won this lasty year for haggas 3rd in Windsor castle, always like to look out for some of these maidens at notts as some nice horses get overlooked and the winner and runner up look well above average, first 2yr old winner for marco botti this season and bred to get a lot further was really impressive to pick up from off the pace and winning very easily actually looked beter class than these.Similarly the runner up the haggas runner the fact he aimed at this race maybe a pointer to it being a similar ability to mubtagha and the form looks rock solid with kyllukey 4ls back with experience,at ascot kyllukey was only just behind beaverbrook and king of rooks second fav for the Coventry, again this shows the weakness of the form of 2yr olds but also shows how races and horses like this could get very underestimated. The winning time was also backed up by the progressive double up winning the latter older handicap off 88,the time only .50 quicker but the maiden runners carrying more weight,as good as most of the times seen this season with loads of improvement to come,i'd be looking for prices ion these two especially the winner was very impressive I'd be surprised if not both seen at ascot and would be worth a bet at juicy prices as undoubtedly this maiden will be underestimated...

Easton angel
10 ran TIME 1m 1.52s (slow by 0.52s)

A seemingly very fast time only .52 above standard the winner Easton angel cantering through out winning under hand's n' heels whether the ground was quicker than stated still looks decent run being .69 than the colts in previous race, the problem with these winners the automatically go into group races and there are usually a [plethora of similar types.
So far the 2yr olds at this stage of a normal season have been abysmal, veryu few speedfigures and the ones that have Harvard man have run poorly on next run although different ground others such as silver wings and then draem dreamer this week running twice and running ragged stables fault through pure greed but als0 shows that these 2yr olds aren't taking their racing well. There are quite a few nice looking handicappers on the clock but usually aren't worth writing up as there's usually dozens at the moment these types look like the'rre going to be contending the listed and group races unless the next 10 days throw up some much needed speed figures,i can't remember such a poor bunch at this stage of the season.Don't know what will happen with Easton angel either from the diods stable as not sure he sends them to ascot but at this point she maybe worth an entry she's built like a colt and she goes on any type of ground, she probably isn't top class but at this moment on limited sample she could be a lively outsider in group races.
Todays form was sort of franked in the race by new side road, beaten 3ls in the listed race at York was beaten double that distance today, the second looks like picking up another race as well opal tiaras only win a maidem on the aw and today not sure she liked the gd/fm ground.

11/2 racebets for Queen mary 5/1 ppower/betfairsportsbook not much of a price but at least she goes on anygoing on the day!

interesting choice of race Benny..a tie in with Round Two as well through argentero...interesting test for the ratings...wouldn't be lumping on at that price though tbh...the Newbury ratings were a bit blighted by wind...i just hope it wins or i'll have to scrap that day

Round Two form is solid..i'm not convinced Birchwood liked the ground..got a fast ground scratchy action..a watching brief..the race time was 8 seconds slower than standard..very slow ground..i assume its been raining all afternoon

lol. enjoy your thread then.

Summary of "the experiment".

27 bets. 6 winners. to a £10 level stake -£73.

Perhaps it would have done better if you'd only backed the winners.

I'm intrigued by how you narrow them down to just the 25% - obviously, unless you're a complete Walter Mitty, you are making money off these. But you appear to be the only one.

As an example to show us how to make the decision about what's a bet and what isn't - how about Flight Risk which won at 50/1 a few weeks ago. You highlighted it in September with the comments that you'd like to see him in listed contests on the a.w. over 6f. How did you come to the decision to back him at 50/1 over 7f on Yielding turf, conditions which he had previously been well beaten under? Was it purely a price thing?

That sort of thing was probably what made me assume that you simply backed everything just in case - but you're telling me that's not the case and now I'm confused and need some clarification about your selection processes. (Assuming of course that this thread isn't just an ego-trip).

Fella I've been posting on here for 5 years the threads got 360,000 views that's because it's been so successful it original started off as a bets thread surely you must have looked before, I used to put the prices up the night before the threads showing probably a couple of thousand points profit on the bets I put up moving the markets as I did today with the queen catrine bet, only bet put on here since the time mentioned and hacks up at 9/4.Putting up all that information was giving far to much away regarding books so fior the last 3 seasons been putting the to follows up,its not a list of bets but information and guide most of the time they won;'t be bets because a high % of the thi9ngs I note are times etc which get reflected in the market on next runs, unless they've got a huge write up and 10 pound in hand I'm not in the habit of backing lots of short prices.
I do the form for every single race on every single card and price them up and havn't missed a race since the beginning of the season, why you've started to have a niggle after I've been on here 5 years and put up 100s of winning bets with prices I don't know I wondered why you'd started posting on here.
I get dozens of emails about the to follows some have kept the last 3 seasons,in actual fact from the beginning of the year the to follows are 100+ points backing every single thing on it,thats according to someone elses spreadsheet I'm not even interested if iuts showing a profit I wouldn't expect it to be it's simply about showing up the times form and explanatioj of form in detail/.

By the way Buscrafts just won, different gear aren't they :ninja:and no I didn't back it as the race was so competitive but nice srtiill to be proven right, some sort of performance eh!!:D.

And roccos delight wins as well you were saying?nothing worse than losing gamblers mouthing off!!!

Bushcraft

A massive eyecatching run after 625 days and heavily backed, the 84 rated 4yr old trailing by 3/4ls with 2fs to go and really motoring at finish, wouldv'e won by 3-4ls in another 50 yards but only winning by a nck so a very small rise for the colt and looking on this run well handicapped. The time was .11 quicker than major crispies winning the first div so makes the form lokk even better and the last time bushcraft was seen was august 2013 when 2nd to blithe spirit on gd s/sft ground that horse is now rated 90 recent runner up to spoinatrix and that day bushcraft conceded 13 pound. The ground was on the fast side of good today but that previous run shows he goes on both types of ground and could yet be anything...

Some strange times on the card with the 2 maidens quicker than the class 4 opver a mile especially when you look at other placed horses in those races making them 80 horses
and then this 7f race for poor handicappers rated upto 70 this weak looking handicap was only .23 sower than twin appeals race rated 85 for iolder horses and the 3yr old only carried slightly less weight. It maybe the headwind and where they raced on the track just flatters them in the 3yr old race and form maybe worthless but comparatively to the rest of the card was fastest race so will keep coming back to it and see if these two frank the times. The winner was only rated 60 and runner up 64,the second div won by my to follows hiorse three gracez won in a time 1.67 seconds slower in following race so maybe the form is reasonable for grade, the ground was very slow though so wether these two will get same conditions for awhile unlikely as well so maybe worth noting for autumn...
