He announced it as part of his thankyou speach for winning whichever award it was he won on the TV awards.... hes doing the four specials that are goign to be shown next year, then thats it.
Big shame, but like he said - he loves doing it so much, if he doesnt go soon,he will have to be wheeled out in a bathchair....
He is a fabbity fab Doctor, and will be very much missed.
