So, if a person posts on a forum from sometime back, it's okay for them to be plugged, but if they don't, a different rule applies? quote]
You make a decent point there.
I think it does matter actually and different rules may apply.
First of all I feel that Songsheets post was not so much a plug for Dims work, but a congrats from the forum which encouarged her and watched her progress, and along the way enjoyed a lot of free photos which we would otherwise have had to pay someone for.
The same goes for Uncle Goober who most of us know and who has always been very geneorus with his photos.
Secondly if someone joined the forum today and immediately posted plugs for themselves, and generally did not seem to join in the other posts, then yes, agree that this would seem out of order. (As was the case with David Dent).
I think that the forum ought to be open to people telling us what they do, as long as they do not constantly bang on about it. It's a fine line, but it adds to the weight of the forum that we have people in IT, law, Bloodstock, media etc on here.
Anyone on this forum who could not be happy for the success of someone who has been a contributor for a long time would have to be a very mean person indeed! Life is just too short not to celebrate the success of those you know.
In addition since someone put the Weatherbys article up on another thread it does seem to be in the interest of clarity for it to be pointed out whose photos they were. It is useful information - now I know who to buy them from!
