A new Racing Club in Dublin. I was speaking to the guy whose organising it and seems like a good idea. Thought I'd let our Irish forumites know.

"We have a real treat in store for the next meeting of the Dublin Racing Club.

The Senior National Hunt handicapper, Noel O'Brien, will be giving a talk on all things handicapping related including his views on the established hero's and rising stars of Irish and UK racing. Noel is widely regarded as one of the most (if not the most) knowledgeable men in Ireland when it comes to NH racing form. Johnny Ward (Irish Racing Post), one of Ireland's top tipsters, will also feature in what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable night.

The meeting will take place at 7.30pm in the downstairs bar of Peadar Kearney's pub, Dame Street on November 24th. PK's is located a few doors from the Olympia, on the Central Bank side of the street.

For those of you who missed the last meeting; the idea of the club is to have fun, meet like minded racing people, and learn something along the way. Membership is free and all are welcome.

The full agenda on the night is:

7.30pm (sharp!) - Discussion and Q&A with Noel O'Brien, Senior Handicapper, Turf Club
(please feel free to send any questions for Noel in advance of the meeting by email)

8.15pm Panel discussion
Focus on the weekend's big racing including the Hennessy at Newbury and the Fighting Fifth. We will also discuss upcoming Irish racing at Fairyhouse, the Tingle Creek, up and coming jockeys (e.g. Maurice Linehan) and the latest on the whip debacle. The panel will feature:

- Noel O'Brien, Senior Handicapper, Turf Club
- Johnny Ward, Irish Racing Post and the Weekender
- (final guest tbc)

We will have some spot prizes to be won and there will be free finger food on the night. I'm also assured there will be some cheap drink for those of you that way inclined!

We'll look forward to seeing you there and please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or ideas. Alternatively you can contact dublinracingclub@gmail.com"

When did Johnny Ward become one of Irelands top tipsters. This years Betfair Cheltenham preview is on YouTube-according to Johnny Sizing Europe had no chance in the Champion Chase and Thousand Stars didn't deserve to line up in the Champion Hurdle.Writing for a Sunday newspaper does not make you automatically a top tipster.
FWIW-I prefer him to Tom Lee doing market moves on RTE.

Good event last night. Noel O'Brien was good and they previewed the Troytown and Hennessey. Next one will be in Jan/Feb at Leopardstown.

Did you know that they backed Honest Your Honoour off the boards in a Fairyhouse handicap and he finished clear of the rest, only to fail by a length to give 8lbs to a future champion hurlde winner!! They got compensation when he bolted up on his next run.

Just imagine the connections of that horse after it gets beaten with two stone in hand........how can you legislate for there being a bigger "improver" in the field.....:ninja:
