Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Thousand Stars (21).
One hell of a horse .
Came to owner /trainer Lar Byrne as a 3 year old after twenty flat runs in France, once running against Binocular and Ashkazar, another day runner up to Literato.
Twelve runs and one win later Lar wanted to dispose of him.
Jockey Tim Doyle recommended him to Jim Culloty as an ideal syndicate horse , well capable of "running and making the frame every week".
For 10k Jim apparently considered him too cheap.
WPM had other ideas, considering him as an ideal mate for Team Quevega , him racing while she was kept fresh for Festival after Festival.
48 runs over the next six seasons yielded 3 Grade 1 wins, multiple Grade 1 places and a tour to practically every Premier hurdle race in Europe.
When Brownie Guinan sang of WPM
" He's had more winners then we've had hot dinners
Made Champions out of also rans "
he had Thousand Stars to thank for the inspiration.
A career on tv followed , he was Katie Walsh's mount for years doing post race interviews .
In a word, he was the horse of a lifetime.

Jukebox Jury.
Hell of a stallion and a decent racehorse to boot.
Complications of colic, melanoma no doubt given he was grey.
We have a lease on a JJ half sister to Jazzaway, coming back from injury but hope she hits the track with her daddy's attitude.

RIP Brave Inca

A true warrior who had a long and happy retirement
Saw him with a polo mint not too long ago

A great time for racing was his era. Many great days and a nice story of likely lads star in his story from owners to trainer and Irish racing at that time, in what is a different time now.
