Showed a similar level of ability in two outings as a juvenile within the space of thirteen days in October, finishing third over a mile on heavy ground at Salisbury – before a fourth placed effort over a furlong shorter at Kempton, on both occasions beaten a shade under three lengths. Euaptor will benefit form a winter behind him, and has shown enough to suggest he should visit the winners enclosure – be that on turf or the all weather, particularly in handicap company. He cost 135k euro as a yearling, and will be suited to a return to a trip of at least a mile.

He was placed twice as a two-year-old over a mile at Salisbury and seven furlongs at Kempton but, to be honest, I was a little disappointed with both his runs. I think he just wants a trip. He is a son of Persian King and a horse we have always really liked. He has grown into a very nice horse and it was always going to be about his three-year-old career. We would like to win his maiden and then go looking for something over a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half. Timmy Murphy rides him every day and thinks he will stay that far.

I was only thinking about Timmy Murphy today and wondering what he was doing. I always used to back the bumper horses he rode for Fergal.
