France and Spain to perform best for me.

Spain have the pedigree and still have to be feared.

France have a solid looking team except for Benzema.

Holland and Italy not good enough, Germany no better than before, Belgium overrated, Portugal a team of two stars.

England might do ok if the youngsters have a go but Hodgson is so defensive.

Any thoughts?

All about Spain for me. Starting 11 of euro final players all there. Feel
South American teams have been overrated. Spain by far the best squad. I wouldn't write off Germany either a lot of bayern players in there and they're always capable on the big stage.

Strong fancy for Spain for me though.

Apparently Stephen Hawking has been unveiling formulas for England's chances at the World Cup.
Chances increase by 25% if they kick off at 3 PM.
They increase by 33 % if they play in red and by a massive 100% if he plays up front instead of Danny Wellbeck!
:D

Not even the 100-1 Paddy power are offering would tempt me.
Getting out of the group would be a good tournament imo.
You still clinging to that Steven Gerrard SPOTY voucher??

Where are they 100/1? No I'm not clinging to anything, I'm just interested in people's opinion. They've not ever been 28/1 for a World Cup before.

28/1 is a fair price on England imo.

Positives:
Rooney should be a lot fresher for this World Cup than he's ever been for a Tournament before and it's possible if he hits a hot streak that he could heat up and score a few goals.

England's weakness in the past has been having no pace at the back and a lack of quality in the midfield. I think this area is better this year.

The draw. Yes it's a tough group but if they get out of it they play either the winner or runner up in Group C - Colombia, Greece, Japan, Ivory Coast. It gets tricky then: bright side Holland or Mexico, dark side Brazil or Spain

Bottom line is if we start well and Rooney bangs them in the hype would be huge and we'd be 10s before the last 16. A good trading opportunity.

Negatives:
We are over reliant on Rooney and if his head drops after a bad start we'll be going home sharpish.

That's the only neg at the price for me. No way should England be bigger than Belguim and Portugal.

Positives: .......................none

Negatives: they can't even pass the ball or keep it for 10 seconds!!

England simply do not keep the ball well enough Rod, in that heat/humidity if you cannot keep the ball you'll be coming home. I really hope they prove me wrong though
