BLASTS SHUT TUBE NETWORK

Power surges have caused a number of blasts on London's Underground leaving dozens of people injured.

The entire network has been shut down following explosions at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square.

British Transport Police confirmed there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from King's Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around King's Cross covered in soot.

Clare Benson, 33, a city banker from Kensington, was on a tube at Edware Road where the second incident took place.

"I was in the last carriage at the back of the train nearest the tunnel when I heard a huge bang - you could feel it," she said.

"The lights went off for a couple of minutes and people were scared and wondering what to do.

"The drivers got out and were looking into the tunnel, then they announced that we should evacuate. My ears are still ringing and I was shaking."

Reports are coming in that bombs have gone off - Relks, if you're looking in please tell me you & Karen are ok & not involved.

Blast happened at Aldgate

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around King's Cross covered in soot.

Clare Benson, 33, a city banker from Kensington, was on a tube at Edware Road where the second incident took place.

It's looking worse and worse, very frightening. Relks, either answer me on here, or reply to the email & text I sent you please!!

Similar type of attack like Madrid received in 11M,
very sad scenes but this is what is going to happen in more places in coming years.

Very sad.

At least one explosive device has been found on the Undeground, so it looks like the bus explosion is linked.

They are now reporting fatalities..... :(

The day after the announcement for the Olympics coming to London in 2012 as well.

Gareth, I was more thinking of what people in other countries would be thinking about London holding the games with this happening the very next day.

It looks like there may have been bombs on a bus and on the tube and that there are fatalities. Bastards! :angy:

This is just weird, am watching the BBC here in Australia, its scary to think its happening again.

Just whom did it, remains open. Is it terrorists, G8 summit activisits or protesters for the Olympic Games?

Gareth, I think you're probably spot on about the timing.

Terrorist attack is being mentioned now by more than one person on Sky News and the situation is looking bad. I'm getting a little worried about Relks not responding to my text or email now, Relks, reply to me!!!

SL it's quite likely Relks has to get in contact with plenty of other people as well. Throw in the fact the phones lines etc are probably crazy busy with everyone trying to contact each other.

Terrible scenes.

Can someone do me a HUGE favour. Keep me updated on this. I am about to go to bed here in Australia. I just want to know what happens when I wake up tomorrow.

Yeah, I know Aidan.....I do worry though, & I panic easily!

Bastard fucking scum is all I can say about anyone who has anything to do with implementing this situation and others like it.

Understand what your saying SL, worrying times for anyone with family or friends in the area.

On a wider scale this affects so many. Obviously those directly involved but also the G8 meeting will be badly disrupted, a meeting that could save millions.

Don't worry, we will be keeping this thread up to date no doubt Grand Armee!

All buses have now been pulled out of London along with all my drivers. We had installations at Marks and Spencers to do at 3am tomorrow morning at Oxford Street, which I am rapidly trying to reschedule. I even had to warn Brendan Powell to set off early today if he has runners at Epsom tonight as the traffic is going to be absolutely horrendous all day!

These are all tiny inconveniences compared with all those that have died and suffered horrific injuries in this latest atrocity.

My thoughts with those that have lost loved ones today. :(

nothing special
this can happen in any place and it is impossible to avoid it.

Beat me to it Brian, I've just heard that 3's network is being heavily worked but is still functioning at present, but the other operators have made the decision to shut their's down in certain areas.
