Explosion On The Tube

Erm... I thought the whole point of broadcasts by those concerned (well, apart from the criminals involved, of course) and film clips on various news services WAS to give us the facts? I don't know what either of you mean by waiting until we have the facts - I doubt I'll still be alive, since it's fairly clear that we don't find out what really occurred during any major incident until some twenty years, and several compensation pay-outs, later.

You know, foundations/causes/reasons apart, however regrettably these exist, I'm tired of hearing homicidal criminals called 'terrorists'. The word 'terrorist' sounds exciting, and beyond even the everyday murderous bastard. But they are just murderous, and they are just criminals. If we consider them to be a part of a group of crims, perhaps some of the 'terror' they are supposed to be striking into people's hearts (not a lot, it seems - the world is getting used to their vileness) will dissipate, and they will be seen for what they are.

I'm also wondering when the legislation on incitement to religious and racial hatred will be enacted against all mullahs and imams - whether discredited and outside their mosques, or not - when they call for an Islamic state to be imposed upon Britain and all 'infidels' (i.e. Jews and Christians) converted or slain. I'm also waiting to see whether the Muslim Council of GB is actually anything other than a paper tiger, like the UN, in actively rooting out the hate-dispensers in its midst, and whether, if they're not British, we'll get round to deporting them to whence they came. Can the British Govt. revoke British citizenship that's been conferred upon someone who is clearly traitrous in their intent? Can, in fact, those calling for the (fundamentalist Islamic) overthrow of Britain be held to be traitors? Ardross...

From Sky News

TWO 'BOMBERS' ARRESTED

Two of the would-be London bombers have been arrested today, Sky News has revealed. It means that a total of three of the suspects are now in custody.

One of them is thought to be the man who tried to detonate a bomb at Oval station and the other is thought to be the man responsible for attempting to blow up the number 26 bus.

This information has not been confirmed.

One of the suspects was arrested during a raid on an estate in the north Kensington area of west London.

The man under arrest was led away from the scene wearing a white forensic boiler suit, often used to preserve evidence.

During the siege, one eyewitness told Sky News that a man was inside a flat and police were surrounding the property and shouting at him to get him out.

Lisa Davis told Sky News: "They are asking him to leave the flat. They're asking him what is the problem, why can't he come down.

"'Take your clothes off' is what they're telling him they're asking him 'does he understand'."

She added: "We've got two men standing outside the flat right now. They have guns pointed upwards at the flat.

Police close in

"They've been telling him for about 20 mins now to get his clothes off and get down."

She said that a siege situation had developed and that more police were joining the operation.

"It's a very multicultural block. It's nothing flash by any means," she added.

Lisa said that officers addressed the man as Mohammad.

As Lisa spoke, Sky News cameras watched officers in balaclavas arrive at the scene and spent time getting their equipment organised before moving off to join the operation.

A number of explosions had earlier been heard at the scene, possibly the sound of police entering the property which was the object of the operation.

The operation is connected to the failed bombing attempt on July 21.

Sky News' correspondent Martin Brunt said: "It looks as though police had no more than an hour-and-a-half to prepare for this."

He added: "This is a serious operation - rather more substantial than the raids we have seen in the past few days.

Special forces moving in

"It is half a mile or so from where a bomb was left on Thursday last week and discovered later by a member of the public."

One local resident, named Patrick, told Sky News: "The first thing I heard was what sounded like a very loud explosion.

"I put my head out and a policeman shouted 'get to the back of the building'. I waited in the bathroom for about 15 mins before I came back out.

"The noise that I heard was an extremely loud bang. Anyone with a brain would know that it was either a bomb or a controlled explosion."

:: A number of other arrests have been made in a series of other operations.

Officers carrying machine guns and wearing gas masks sealed off Tavistock Road and the adjoining crescent.

Tavistock Road runs close to Westbourne Park Tube station where the man who attempted to blow himself up on a train near Shepherd's Bush on July 21 got on to the network.

:: Liverpool Street Station has been evacuated and shut down. Armed police have made a number of arrests there. Reports say that two of them are women.

Just talking to one of my customers who works in central London and she just told me that someone she knows, that was born in the same village that she was, actually sat next to the bomber on the bus and previously on the tube. This chap is evidently still in hospital with multiple lacerations BUT he survived and does not have a broken bone in his body. He is from a very religious family and he thinks it just wasn't his time to go. How lucky was he? :o

Good work all round, from the public, the use of CCTV at last justified, mobile phones found to be rather handy in identifying who was calling whom (use justified at last, too!), cooperation from Pakistan, Zambia, and Italy - loads of really good info coming out. Just too, too sad that none of this brilliant effort couldn't have been in place to have prevented the events from happening in the first place.

What is weird is, just shortly after I posted my bit above, I accessed Arab News online and hey, presto! The American Council of Muslims has pronounced a fatwa on terrorism, terrorist acts, and the assistance of terrorists in carrying them out. This is essentially a warning of the equivalent of excommunication, of holy damnation, and the right to execute the damned as a blasphemer, or enemy of Islam.

Let's see if the dozy lot in the UK wake up and get onside, instead of prating about Islam being a religion of peace and goodwill, etc. Has anyone ever heard a representative of ANY religion, finding itself embroiled in some distasteful act, announcing it's no wonder, since its history is soaked in blood, and the present is no different to the past? Oh, for a bit of honesty!

Well after reading this thread and thinking about the affair I suppose I would have to concede that the police were in a no-win, damned if I do - damned if I don't, situation.

............but I feel that if it was one policeman(??) who put seven bullets into the innocent's head(and one into his shoulder?) then that man has a problem and is need of treatment.

Colin

To my knowledge, James, all they've done is to say it's not Islamic to go round blowing up innocent people. That clears that up, then.
