The chase is over 2m4f and the hurdle 2m.

The current going is good to yielding but presumably it will be softer on the day?

Lot of rain last night (was blowing a gale all night as well).

Forecast looks fairly unsettled up to the weekend; will keep all posted.

Aran Concerto or possibly Barker/Trafford Lad could turn out to be genuine starts for next season...the rest look graded performers at best. Would love to see Aran win well.

I was in wexford yest and Voler La Vadette is the stable choice from eight runners around the country today.

Looks a quality card.

Trafford Lad is a solid 9/4 shot if coming back to his best in the Powers Gold Cup. I'm not keen on either Joncol (though I agree with Bobbyjo that he's a smashing prospect for staying chases) or Golden Silver and it's tough to advise backing Aran Concerto despite how well he is working. I reckon Shazand looks too big at 33's; vibes the last day at Navan were terrible but he would have played a hand in the finish a decent enough novice chase behind Northern Alliance when falling two out and his form in beating Western Gale on his previous run doesn't look all that bad in hindsight.

Mares hurdle looks a quality renewal with the likes of Oligarch Society, the ever-frustrating Shirley Casper and Voler La Vedette.

In the beginners chase, I can see Peplum running a big race back on good ground. Lot of these look exposed, but think the O'Grady horse can improve considerably on this better ground. Good vibes last night for Aggie's Lad though.

I think Joncol will be a Grade 3 or at best Grade 2 chaser. Trafford Lad and Aran Concerto are really the only two with prospects of taking on the best at 3 miles next year in my opinion. Ground a big worry for him as well.

Have had an interesting mention for Prince Rudi in the 4.15 today, know nothing the horse but from a good source and at around 33/1 I'll have a small interest.

Colm Murphy's mare is obviously well fancied, think Shirley Casper will go well on this ground though.

8/1 was some price. Voler La Vedette travelled like a classy mare but she was just too keen....wouldnt give up on her yet though.

From what I've heard ground would have to be a serious worry for Aran Concerto.

Edit: If Kempes runs up to his Irish form, he should win the next easily.

Ground will be fine for Aran Concerto in the sense he should handle it, worry would be they will go that bit faster on it and put his inexperienced jumping under pressure.

11/1 was available this morning Gal - looked at backing it but went for topping up on my AP bet on Proportional instead. Doh!

I've backed Shazand again E/W with the dead 8 runners. Far too big a price.

Ground looks very quick; the pace was quick enough in the last but, even so, 3m 46s points to very quick ground. Quicker than ideal for Aran Concerto.
