Fairyhouse Weekend

I’d be very interested in Early Doors in the Royal Bond at a price if he was an intended runner. Obviously Joseph has Le Richebourg in it too but Early Doors form has been good and it took a very nice boost yesterday.

Pity Early Doors made the mistake 2 out. Would’ve made it very interesting. Winner is good and they pulled miles clear. 14/1 ew bet on Early Doors and an antepost ew for supreme at 33/1 too. No way he should’ve been that big today after his last win.

I really don't know what to make of the Royal Bond. Mengli Khan looked impressive as he did last time, and Early Doors followed him to pull well clear of the field. I thought he was well beaten despite the mistake though. Mengli Khan certainly looks the best two mile hurdler so far this season, and given his size and scope rates an exciting prospect.

Where I'm scratching my head is the performances of Le Richebourg and more particularly Red Jack. Both are clearly better than that, and Red Jack drifted in the last 24 hours as though he'd lost a leg. Unbeaten and possibly the best Bumper performer of last season, that all felt a bit strange.

Looking back at the stable form, it's not a disaster, but they don't seem to be exactly sparkling either, and neither are Joseph O'Brien's so maybe that's it.

Early doors run there makes Merie devie look a good bet in 2.05 at Fairyhouse. 13/2

very good from AJ. doubt she's thrown into the champion hurdle but i think the aintree hurdle would be a nice spring target for her.

Elliott was very much of the opinion with the ill fated Fayonagh that his horses should always go for the easiest opportunity come March. She was been aimed at the Mares Novice hurdle so I’d expect no exceptions to the rule with Apples Jade. Mares Hurdle presumably again. She’s only 6, she could knock a sequence up.

That was impressive and managed to take the 33/1 for the NH Chase as he was on the run in. Thanks to Grassy for spotting that price in the ante post comp

Would be a good price if that were the target, owner says RSA. Performance looked very good.

Yeah that wouldn’t be ideal but he’d surely have a far better chance in the longer race and these targets have been known to change.

A lot can change between now and March, Max, and he was hardy unequivocal about it. It’s a good price regardless, given he’s no bigger than 14/1 now.

I dare say the Irish National will be under serious consideration too, if the handicapper isn’t too harsh.

The look round for Mengli Khan after 3-out suggests he was only there to act as a hare for the jolly. Ah well.

For sure. They were racing a long way out (which a glance at the times will back up). They've clearly taken the view that Mengli Khan needs a strong gallop to run at (seemed like he tried to make it something of a test in the For Auction as well. I've liked Mengli Khan his last two runs; one doubt would be how he copes with genuinely good ground, however.

8/1 for the Supreme a fair price to find out.
