Festival Previews

Looks like a good night in Europa Belfast at https://twitter.com/SPGBETTING

Panel

Grand National winning duo
trainer Gordon Elliot and
jockey Robbie Power...
RUK commentator Richard @RichardHoiles.
Larger than life pundit Mark "The Couch" Winstanley.
And of course Brian & Ronan Graham...
MC of the evening is the fantastic @AtTheRaces main man Gary O'Brien

Supreme

Couch: Gonna take the fav on. Running round flat tracks, can't have him. Vautour nicked the race last time can't have that.
Couch: Vaniteux ew
Robbie Power RP: Vautour soft lead but won well, don't know what to make of race. Western Boy ew. Not much to find with Vautour. Don't like Irving.
Brian Graham BG: Vautour impressive, won at Leopardstown the hard way. Beat Tullow Tank, who was G1 winner
BG: If Ruby decides Vautour is the best of the Mullins, that says it all
Gordon Elliott GE: Irving form isn't good enough, Wicklow Brave for me
Richard Holies RH: Don't think Irving will win. Lacks a bit of class. Vaniteux is interesting. Sea Lord, if ground drys Ferguson horses need respect

Arkle Chase

Will the panel take on Champagne Fever?
RH: Rock On Ruby - only thing in his favour his festival record. Think he has issues. It's gonna come back to Ireland - Champagne Fever...
RH: If he gets in a rhythm he'll be hard to beat. Apart from that I I would like to see Rock On Ruby but it is Champagne for me
GE: I agree with Richard. Champagne just has to jump. Been to Chelt a few times and won. Trifolium could chase him home
RP: Fan of Trifolium. Only thing going for Champagne is his record round Chelt. Won easy race first time out. Doesn't jump well enough.
RP: Horses with best rating over hurdles do well in this. Grandouet got better as year went on. Grandouet & Trifolium selections
Couch: Champagne only time he got taken on in front he got beat. English have no chance of winning this More chance of ENG winning World Cup
Couch: Trifolium electric last time, can't believe he this price. Byrnes one of best trainers in Ireland. EW bet of Festival
BG: Poor Irish record in the race. One negative against Trifolium prone to throwing a stinker in. Hinterland if goes has great chance...
BG: Excellent form as a 4yo, improving all the time, extra experience massive help. Already beat Grandouet. 10/1 great ew price
Some good views there on the Arkle.

The Champion Hurdle.

Can Hurricane Fly win yet or again?

RP: Best race of the Festival. Great tactical battle, Jezki great cruising speed, only way he can if he makes all. If not only Fly or MyTent
RP: Jezki gradually picks up but if no pace it'll be all gone as they'll take a few lengths out of him. Love to see Fly win it.
RP: My Tent biggest danger to Fly with tactical way of race
Couch: Fly still had speed to beat Our conor after mistake at last in Leopardstown. Much better chance for our conor next year
Couch: New One doesn't jump well enough, makes mistakes. Tactical way of race is wonderful. My Tent improving has everything in favour.
Couch: Who do you want on board coming down the hill? Sam Twiston or AP or Ruby. Not rocket science is it
RH: Reason Chamagne beat My Tent was the extreme gallop. Slightly worried about last 50 yards but think he's deffos the one to beat
RH: Fly won last year through stamina not speed. Robbie jumps in says Ruby wasn't panicking when he was pushing along on Fly last year.
RH: Tough for Our Conor to win as 5yo. My Tent will beat New One, and Our Conor third. Sorry to Fly fans!
GE: Big fan of Fly. Going to be trappy race. Could come down to jumping. Going to be fast over the last few sticks even if no pace early
GE: Interesting to see if they wear the earplugs as if it might liven him up
BG: Great race. Leaning towards Fly, on figures still rated 175, would suggest he's still got it even at 10.
BG: Our Conor a stone to find, he came to win race last day against Fly, but Fly came back at him again and won
Some great opinions then there on the Champion Hurdle. Should be one of the best in recent memory. Crowd well involved there!

Neptune Novices Hurdle

BG: Once again the Mullins factor. Have to respect the stable. If Walsh rides Faugheen have to respect that
RH: Don't like when Mullins horses win by dial a distance. Does that prepare them properly? Bit like Briar Hill battled. Faugeen too short
RH: Ballyalton at a price interests me. Maybe not good enough but is a nice horse at the price.
Couch: Some of these won't run. Deputy Dan can't win. Red Sherlock can't have him. Faugheen could be Even money shot. Form is top notch.
RP: Weakest of 3 novice hurdles. Faugheen jumping a bit dodgy. Geraghty is keen on Royal Boy he's told him.
GE: Faugheen going against him, jumping a bit sketchy. Hard to know what's going to run in the race. Royal Boy again for Gordon
So an interesting difference of opinions on the chances of Faugheen there.

RSA Chase
GE: Don Cossack going to take on Ballycasey again. Went for a mile and half yday at Lep, was a good workout. Ballycasey fell yday
GE: Big field in this race, they will go a good gallop, Irish horses all beating each other. Step up to 3 miles and good gallop suit Don Cos
GE: Harder the go the better, we'll drop in and hopefully he'll be good enough
RH: If you get in a rhythm in front that's half the battle in RSA. Corrin Wood fantastic jumper. Annacotty massively improved.
BG: Negative def Ballycasey falling in schooling. Cracking race. Plenty in with chances. In the Moriarty jumped the last together...
BG: Those 3 should be there again. Like Richard I like Corrin Wood.
RP: Not too worried about the fall of Ballycasey. Wasn't a huge. Went to last fence and popped it fine. Morning Assembly ticks a lot boxes
RP: Can't have Carlingford to win RSA after winning a Galway Plate.
Couch: Can't have Carlingford. Morning Assembly will go well pretty solid. Smad Place won't get round.
Couch: Think Ballycasey great lay. Many Clouds at a price. Ran well last time when wasn't fit.

Champion Chase

Such a shame no Sprinter Sacre. Like he has all season will Sire De Grugy take advantage of the absence?

Couch: Can't have Sire at the price. Doesn't like Cheltenham. Big drifter on the day. Worst Champion Chase for a while
Couch: Captain Conan only one in the race for me, can't be out of the 1st 3. Arvika Ligeonnaire needs another "0" on his price.
RP: Can't have Sire at price. Baily Green if the ground drys up. each way steal. Mouse Morris is a genius
BG: This market has been dead for last 2 months. Sire De Grugy has great chance. Stones better than these.
BG: Bigger price he gets even better. One of these horses public always back so don't see it drifting personally.
GE: Sire De Grugy will win it, Arvika second, but can't have the prie on Sire.
RH: Softer ground key for me for Sire De Grugy. Very much in the Captain Conan camp. Didn't get up hill last year but confident this year
RP: Go get a cup of tea for this race, if we thought this would be the lineup at start of season you'd be mad

Champion Bumper

Ronan Graham RG subs in for Brian Graham...
RG: Shaneshill hasn't run since last year yet is still favourite. Nothing come out after Xmas and being too impressive. Keen on Shaneshill
RG: Best visual performance has been Weld's Vigil. Backed when he won and duly went in. Weld's record at Chelt v poor though
RG: This will come back to Ireland surely. Killultagh Vic has the value after his win last time over Golantilla.
Couch: Take on Black Hercules. El Namoose for Ferguson about the best of English lot. Can't back Weld horse at Chelt. Killultagh Vic for me
RP: Impressed with Shaneshill. Plenty of toe. Weld talking about Galway in parade ring of Cheltenham few years ago!
GE: Time for a Pint won't run. Black Hercules good the last day. Improved stones for it. Will go up the hill a dream
RH: Not a clue, it will come back to Ireland surely, been disappointing times for Bumpers in the UK. Modus interesting with flat background

World Hurdle
Can Big Bucks return with a win? Annie Power will she stay 3 miles?

RH: Big Bucks. Surely has to be ridden that way as when he got beat in the Cleeve. Surely more prepared than if he won without a battle?
RH: Question if being 11yo and having the absence if he still good enough. Can certainly win and shouldn't be underestimated
RH: Annie Power should have went for the Mares and then went to Aintree. She's strong at end of races. Plenty of reasons to take her on tho
GE: Annie Power isn't in the right race. Would be certainty for Mares. Big Bucks has had it for me. Mouse raves about Rule The World
RG: No money coming for Annie Power. Think she's a machine. Can't see Big Bucks getting within 10 lengths of her!
RG: Big Bucks don't think it has any chance. Rule The World mapped out for the race, 2nd in Neptune. Mouse has him back on form
RG: At Fishers Cross can't jump and won't win if you can't jump in World Hurdle. Rule the World smashing price each way
RP: At Fishers Cross form horrendous this year. AP said reason he gone for At Fishers is he's guaranteed to stay
RP: Annie Power will arrive at the last on the Bridle and will win. LUMP ON he says smiling. Big Bucks is 11, she will stay no problem
RP: When she won novice hurdle, she beat Defy logic, patrick mullins said she could be the next Dawn Run.
Couch: Big Bucks jumped to the front last time but just got beat. Massive difference between Sam and Ruby.
Couch: Can't have At Fishers Cross, every single hurdle he hit last time. Annie Power very good but love Big Bucks can't take him on

Ryanair

Couch: First Lieutenant good form hopefully will win
RP: Again First Lieutenant bit of a nearly horse but fancy him
RG: Money for Dynaste. Can't have First Lieutenant doesn't win races. Dynaste will take a lot of beating. Wouldn't have a bet in the race
GE: Like to see First Lieutenant win it for Mouse.
RH: Module made up ground late last time, think he will stay and could run above his price
So just a quick look at Ryanair with number of contenders engaged in more than one race.

Triumph Hurdle.

GE: Tiger Roll think he can turn form around with Guitar Pete. English look good this year. Ours will be first of the Irish.
RH: Really like Calipto. Nicholls said he had best bunch of french imports for a while. Liked that he ran against the older horses
RH: Le Rocher might be a soft ground horse. But big fan of Calipto
RG: Calipto could see money coming for it. Le Rocher is a soft ground horse. Like Fry's Activial. Fry has trained a champ hdl winner
RG: Cheltenham could bring out the best of him. Irish horses are an ordinary bunch, Guitar Pete could finish in places
RG: Activial could be one of the bets of the meeting. Calipto will shorten could be 7/2 price
RP: Irish aren't a wonderful bunch. Plinth who I know a bit about open to improvement. Triumph will suit only couple hurdles turning in
Couch: Worried about form of N.Williams yard for Le Rocher. Wasn't a good race Activial won at Kempton. Broughton is a great shout
GE jumps in the middle of Couch. Says Broughton has NO CHANCE...

Albert Bartlett

Couch: Briar Hill won well in the Bumper, powered up the hill. Captain Cutter was impressive last time, heard he's improved too
Couch: Happy to take on Kings Palace, happy to take on anything with Tom Scu on at Cheltenham
RP: Irish banker of the week Briar Hill. Terrible work horse at home, but prize money won on the racecourse. Will stay every yard
RG: Briar Hill workmanlike last few times. Not for me at the price. Kings Palace Pipe banker of the week maybe. Still 4/1 for Briar Hill
RH: Wouldn't go for anything at front. Kings Palace very good over hurdles. Shame there's not more jumping at end of race
RH: Like fact Briar Hill has had a couple of fights. Briar Hill for Richard, Jockeyship will be key here
Ok onto the big race of the final day. The Cheltenham Gold Cup!
RH: Not a vintage bunch. No 2nd season novice in the shake up. Bobs Worth better chance of retaining it as we've not seen him out much
RH: Silvi Conti is a 3 mile flat track horse. Cue Card stopped in the King George. Rocky Creek stayed on well last day and at a price
RH: Most interesting outsider of the field. Can really see there being a shock here. Gold Cup leaves a big mark on horses. Rocky Creek

Gold Cup

GE: Not sure if Last Installment will see the trip out. In-running he might be short but not sure he will get home
GE: Massive Bobs Worth fan but this year there could be a shock
RG: Bobs Worth dead against it for a long time. No value whatsoever at the price. Doesn't look like same horse that won last year
RG: Big question marks against. We'll be top price about Bobs Worth on the day
RP: Takes a great horse to win two gold cups. Last Installment performance last time out best 3 mile chasing performance of season
RP: Will stay every yard and will take plenty of beating. Davy Russel said one horse annoyed about losing gtown job for is Last Installment
RP: Big Price and will run Triolo D'alene and is an each way shout.
Couch: Triolo will have a chance. Won't be better jumper in the field that Rocky Creek. Was only half fit last time when beat.
Couch: Captain chris more chance of turning up at Swindon than the winners enclosure
Couch: Backed one at 100/1 - Teaforthree.

Other Races

RH: Grand Vision - Pertemps, Sailors Warn - County Hurdle, Get Me Out Of Here - Coral Cup, Claret Cloak - Grand Annual, Ohio Gold- novice hc
Couch: Grand Annual Mr Mole could go well AP decent record in the race. When JP smashes into it be 6/1 fav on the day.
Couch: Foxrock be very hard to beat in the 4 miler
RP: Sirene D'Ainay got a stinker of a ride last year. Bit more brains on top of her could go better. Foxrock in the 4 miler again
RG: If JP Mcmanus' money isn't on your money won't count. 7/1 tomorrow in shops Our Conor all day.
GE: Bayan nice preparation for Coral Cup. Kept him for the race. Lookin forward to Cause of Causes. Not sure what race, but will have chance
GE: Swing Bowler for Pipes, used to ride for Pipes, could go well at a price in County Hurdle

Tuesday 24th February - Saunton Sands Hotel in support of Children's Hospice South West (chsw.org.uk)

Panel: MC David Mitchell (DM - Daily Mirror), Tom Malone (TM - bloodstock agent), Conor O'Farrell (COF - jockey for David Pipe), Nigel Hawke (NH - trainer of Anay Turge among others).

TM started the ball rolling by expressing his admiration for the barmaid. The rest of the panel threatened to leave when he started to go through his 'entries' at Cheltenham.

Then we quickly dealt with horses outside the big Grade 1 and Championship races.

TM very keen on Next Sensation in the Grand Annual. Bought for an owner who likes a punt. Reckons the handicapper hasn't caught up with him yet.

TM also keen on Indian Castle in the Kim Muir. Trainer has good record with this sort of horse and a winning chance.

COF fancies Broadway Buffalo in the Pertemps Final and Swing Bowler in the County Hurdle who he thinks ran a cracker on her reappearance.

NH thinks his Anay Turge has an excellent chance in the Grand Annual. He also thinks Samingarry can go well in the Kim Muir.

Supreme

Panel pretty much in agreement about Irving's chances. TM bought Irving and earlier that day he bought his brother.

RJ liked Wilde Blue Yonder at a price. TM disagreed saying he wasn't anywhere near good enough. COF liked The Liquidator.

RJ revealed Irving biggest loser in the book due to some decent bets placed at 12/1.

Arkle

Champagne Fever and Rock On Ruby were the two contenders attracting most interest due to their excellent Cheltenham records. Champagne Fever got the vote. Rock On Ruby the only loser in the StanJames.com book but RJ likes his chances as he was far superior to the opposition over hurdles. Fair bit of doubt from panel (RJ excepted) over Rock On Ruby's jumping.

StanJames Champion Hurdle

All agreed this was the race of the Festival. The prevailing opinion was that Annie Power would go for the World Hurdle.

RJ went for My Tent Or Yours. TM said there was no way he would get up the hill because he doesn't settle well enough. RJ said he settles better this season. TM asked, "Have you been watching the same races?" TM also expressed doubt over form of Nicky Henderson's horses.

COF concurred with TM and both went for Hurricane Fly. NH went for The New One.

Neptune

COF thinks Un Temps Pour Tout is top class but says, knowing the Pipes, he'll probably make use of his mark of 148 and go for the Coral Cup.

If memory serves, the panel was split between Faugheen and Red Sherlock. NH thinks Royal Boy must be respected simply due to being trained by Nicky Henderson.

RSA Chase

DM very keen on O'Faolains Boy after his win at Ascot.

Champion Chase

All in agreement about it being a far from vintage renewal. Sire De Grugy a weak favourite.

World Hurdle

RJ said Big Buck's was StanJames.com's biggest loser of the week by far and they'll be laying him on the day too. Plenty of support for Annie Power.

Triumph Hurdle

DM said Nick Williams' assistant extremely bullish about Le Rocher's chances. COF and TM questioned that assessment for reasons I cannot go into here!

RJ said StanJames.com had ducked Calipto and he was a winner in the book. Good even spread of money. He likes Rutherglen but TM thought he was sure to go for the Fred Winter.

Nigel Hawke used to have Tiger Roll. He says he's a lovely horse who would have a great chance in the Fred Winter. But he fears connections will go for the Triumph. Not experienced enough to cope with the hurly-burly of that race.

Albert Bartlett

DM, COF and TM very keen on King's Palace. RJ liked Briar Hill and Blakemount each-way after rave reviews from Sue Smith and Ryan Mania. TM said Mosspark was a lovely horse and could go well if he runs.

Gold Cup

DM went for Silviniaco Conti with Bobs Worth trying to do what only six horses have done previously in retaining the Gold Cup. Bobs Worth popular with rest of panel.

Best bets:

COF - Irving (Supreme) and King's Palace (Albert Bartlett)
TM - King's Palace (AB)
RJ - Blakemount each-way (AB) and Sizing Gold each-way (whichever race he turns up)
NH - Anay Turge (Grand Annual)

At the end of the night, the panel had to decide on a £100 free bet with StanJames.com for CHSW. The consensus vote was for King's Palace and, after a little persuasion, RJ let them have 4/1.

The Crown Inn, Pishill to raise funds for Racing Welfare and Stonor Cricket Club (that's with a strong 'sh' if you were wondering):

Panel: MC Paul Kelso (Sky News), Lawney Hill (LH - trainer and wife of PTP trainer Alan Hill), Noel Williams (NW - trainer and former Alan King assistant), Andrew Thornton (AT - Gold Cup-winning jockey), Richard Hoiles (RH - broadcaster, commentator, etc), Rory Jiwani (RJ).

Started with a general chat about Cheltenham and racing and got onto wind issues with horses. LH gave a detailed and interesting explanation about wind issues and the type of operations they can have and why big horses in particular can suffer.

Supreme

Irving very popular on the panel and the choice of AT, LH and NW. NW says Wilde Blue Yonder would have an each-way chance which RJ agreed with. NW said he was a good jumper despite him falling twice and that he would be OK with a lead coming to the last. AT disagreed and said the horse needed blinkers. NW said, "Who's to say he won't have blinkers?" RJ liked Irving but pointed out that no favourite had won the Supreme since Brave Inca in 2004.

Arkle

AT and NW both liked Champagne Fever and Valdez. RJ was the only Rock On Ruby fan initially although NW admitted he might have changed his mind by the end of the chat. RH tipped up Claret Cloak each-way with the caveat that he needs quick ground. Audience member asked about Balder Succes and RH explained that the owners work in hospitality at Cheltenham and had their day ruined when he fell in the Triumph. That's why he misses the Festival. Panel agreed that he'd have a chance in a weak Arkle. Rock On Ruby ground-dependent but AT (?) said they'll have one chance to give it a good go on soft ground and the Arkle could be it.

StanJames Champion Hurdle

AT and LH went for Hurricane Fly. RH was quite strongly of the opinion that last year's novices were better than the old guard and went for My Tent Or Yours along with NW and RJ. Lengthy discussion about Annie Power with RH stating she should go for the Mares' Hurdle and then go to Aintree but owner wants to aim big. From breeding perspective, missing Cheltenham also an option.

Neptune

AT keen on Faugheen, NM and LH very keen on Red Sherlock. At the prices, RJ preferred Red Sherlock. RH picked out Ballyalton each-way. Impressed with his win over Oscar Rock at Newcastle although the latter's had issues. Chaser in the making.

RSA

NW very keen on Smad Place. Loves Cheltenham having been placed twice in World Hurdles. AT liked Sam Winner based on his run behind Smad Place giving him three pounds at Newbury last time out. RH keen on Corrin Wood but RJ questioned whether he needed soft ground. RH said he would have preferred to see him in four-miler. Also likes Annacotty whichever race he turns up in. RJ liked Carlingford Lough as a battle-hardened horse and the sort to win this race.

Champion Chase

LH really likes Sire De Grugy and hopes he can win for the Moores. NW (I think) picked out Baily Green with RJ saying he looked Ryanair-bound but that Mouse Morris has a knack of getting his horses right for Cheltenham and that they'd all outrun their odds. AT thinks Hinterland has a great chance.

JLT

NW and LH went for Oscar Whisky with RJ saying Nicky Henderson was keen to emphasise that he was finally running over his right trip at Cheltenham. AT liked Taquin De Seuil.

Ryanair

AT thought Module had a good chance based on his excellent run in the Haldon Gold Cup which proved to be very strong form. RH (I think) concurred. RH said Medermit could be interesting at a price.

World Hurdle

Probably the most interesting race as far as diversity of opinions was concerned. LH said Big Buck's clearly needed the run last time as he had white snot coming out of his nose. She and NW thought he had shown enough to think he would win again. RJ disagreed and said that if Big Buck's had been anywhere near his best, he should have won. AT concurred with RJ and RH, the casting vote, sat on the fence. AT thought Rule The World was very interesting and that Salubrious was a big price.

Triumph

RJ thought Rutherglen was very interesting but was concerned that he would go for the Fred Winter. NW also very keen on Rutherglen and thought he was too exposed for the FW so had to go Triumph.

Albert Bartlett

Between Kings Palace and Briar Hill with the vote going to the former if memory serves.

Gold Cup

AT thought Last Instalment might struggle going down the hill and liked Rocky Creek at a price. The Giant Bolster also mooted as one to get in the places. General consensus that Bobs Worth would be very hard to beat. RH said we thought we were going to get the answer as to whether Silviniaco Conti would stay but he fell before we found out. Says it was a case of Cue Card stopping in the King George rather than Silviniaco Conti staying. Still a question mark.

RH gave out a few horses to watch in the handicaps including Claret Cloak (Grand Annual), Grand Vision (Pertemps) and Son Of Flicka (Coral Cup). I won't reveal them all here as they should be part of a premium service and probably worth the admission fee alone. You'll just have to turn up next year!

LH talked a bit about the Foxhunters and said if Mossey Joe turned up he'd win but that there was a big doubt over him making it due to the problems he has had during his career. She thought her husband's Harbour Court had a live chance despite being brought down at the first at Kelso. He's had two seconds in the Foxhunters and maybe he could go one better.

Apologies for omissions (of which there are plenty) and inaccuracies. Both nights were great fun with some interesting views being aired. I have three more next week: Newcastle Racecourse on Tuesday March 4th, the @cheltofestival Preview at the Radisson Bloomsbury, London on Wednesday March 5th and, last but not least, the London Racing Club preview at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury on Friday March 7th.

I sincerely hope someone's taking notes but, if not, I'll try and get down some of the views down again

ATR will be holding the annual Cheltenham preview night on the channel on Monday 10th March straight after live racing until approx 9pm

At the Cafe en Seine preview night with
Barry G,
Gordon Elliot,
Donn McClean,
Kevin O' Ryan,
Dave Keena and
Leon Blanche

Supreme

Barry says he has a nice problem picking here. Vaniteux working great but both have massive chances. Doesnt fancy Vautour or Irving
Gordon likes Wicklow Brave. Vautour had soft lead the last day. Gilgamboa perhaps a big price too EW.
Personally gutted they aren't grilling Barry re who he rides. Slimy feeling it'll be Vaniteux.
Don reckons nothing between Wicklow and Vautour. Wicklow to improve jumping with racing and the faster of the two.
Leon reckons it's a big move going here with Gilgamboa. Eligible for a 100k bonus and sidestepped the handicaps for this. EW selection.
General feel that Irving has no chance/is a lay. Won't stay they say!

Arkle

Barry says Grandouet not been working well. Champagne hard to beat, Trifolium a bit of value.
Gordon goes for Champagne, Cheltenham record speaks for itself.

Champion Hurdle

Barry says Cee Bee makes it more straightforward. Best horse will win. Open race.
Gordon goes for Fly, he's a Champion.
Our Conor 'the next Hurricane Fly' for Donn. Big words.
KOR struts in late and says Hurricane hard to beat, doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Mares

Best word tonight is that Cailin Annamh heads to the Mares with @BarryJGeraghty on board, serious mare

Neptune:

Barry says Faugheen vulnerable. Rathvinden the bet, reverses form with Sherlock on better ground.
KOR likes Red Sherlock, won with a bit in hand last time out. Lieutenant Colonel EW bet to nada.

RSA
Different story round Cheltenham for Don Coasack says the Tub, faster they go the better it'll suit his fella
Barry says Balleycasey very impressive, one to beat. Will learn from fall schooling fall the last day.

Champion Chase

Barry says Captain Conan in unreal form, thinks the QMCC will be his day.

Special Tiara EW for KOR, big price on good ground. All out to get SDG #SurpriseSurprise

Ross went to the bar but we picked up these from @boylesports

Brilliant atmosphere here, everyone's in full mode! Tips galore on the way!

Supreme Novice's Hurdle preview up now
Gilgamboa could be a decent bet according to Barry Geraghty and Gordon Elliott
Barry and Donn say Irving doesn't hold much of a chance, Wicklow Brave impressive in last few runs
Not much between Vautour and Wicklow Brave according to Donn
Leon fancies Gilgamboa also. Great each-way bet at 16/1
Dave Keena says Irving is the LAY of the meeting!
Dave reckons Vautour should win the Supreme well
Dave says back Gilgamboa each-way now at 16's before the price shortens

Barry says Trifolium is the best bet for the Arkle at 5/1
Leon says Champoagne Fever comes alive at and is a worthy fav. Against Rock On Ruby. Recommends each-way bet on Valdez 9/1
Donn says Rock On Ruby has no chance for the Arkle.
Champagne Fever gets Dave's vote, Felix Yonger might run in the JLT. Trifolium travels well esp on dry ground. Irish 1st & 2nd

Barry says Jezki is the value in the Champion Hdl at 8/1 - solid each-way bet. The Fly is the one to beat
Gordon can't see past a win for Hurricane Fly in the Champion Hdl
Our Conor could be the next Hurricane Fly. Jezki is the overpriced horse of the race - Donn
Too many contenders in the race to make a case for. The New One's form is very sketchy - Dave
Dave going for Hurricane Fly 1st and Jezki 2nd in the Champion Hdl
Leon also going for The Fly 1st and Jezki 2nd
Kevin O'Ryan has now joined us after making his way from Clonmel
Kevin says Vautour is the one to beat in the Supreme. Western Boy is a decent outside bet at 14/1. Also a fan of Gilgamboa

Barry reckons Faugheen is vulnerable for the Neptune. Rathvinden and Royal Boy hold the best value in the race
Leon also going for Rathvinden each-way
Faugheen hasn't run since Christmas, too short for what he has achieved - Dave
Kevin likes Red Sherlock. Each-way bet Lieutenant Colonel at 16/1
Neptune is a tricky race according to Gordon. Recommends a small each-way bet on Lieutenant Colonel
Donn also a fan of Lieutenant Colonel

Irish will definitely win RSA - Ballycasey impressive - Gordon
Morning Assembly most unexposed horse in RSA good bet at 8/1. Questions Ballycasey. - Dave
Barry impressed with Ballycasey, one to beat at 4/1
O Faolains Boy is a cracking each way bet at 14/1 - Leon
Kevin is a big fan of Carlingford Lough and Morning Assembly for the RSA. Both against the field

Champion Chase could be Captain Conan's - Barry
Kid Cassidy at 10/1 for Donn. Baily Green impressive also for Champion Chase
Sizing Europe has no chance. Each way bets on Baily Green and Special Tiara for Kevin
Ground has to dry out for Special Tiara
Everyone pining for Sprinter Sacre here

Baily Green each way and a bet on Captain Conan for Leon
Black Hercules for the Champion Bumper for Gordon if the ground isn't too fast. 6/1 fav
Golantilla has course form and is a decent price at 12/1. Donn
Shaneshill at 7/1 for the Bumper for Leon especially with Ruby Walsh booked for the ride
A lot of love here for Shaneshill for the Bumper!
@BarryJGeraghty rides Joshua Lane in Champion Bumper. Each way value #cheltenham
@BoylesportsLB And @irishkor just had a €200 match bet at Evens for @JTMcFundP2P on Golantilla V Kiltullagh Vic #cheltenham

Kevin and Barry favour First Lieutenant for the Ryanair Chase
Dave doesn't have a strong opinion for the Ryanair but would choose Benefficient if necessary
Leon also with First Lieutenant at 5/1
Donn reckons the Ryanair will be a pretty weak race

Gordon fancies Big Buck's for the World Hurdle at 9/4. Gordon's horse Mala Beach may not run depending on the ground
At Fishers Cross coming back to form. 6/1 for the World Hurdle. Annie Power gets Leon's vote at 7/4
Big Buck's may well not progress for World Hurdle - Donn
Annie Power most likely winner of World Hurdle but 7/4 price doesn't appeal to Dave
Kevin's with Annie Power. Rule The World will finish 2nd at 8/1

Tiger Roll at 12/1 offers good ew value for the Triumph - Barry
Le Rocher impressive but a worry on good ground - Donn
Guitar Pete great improver. Donn fancies Gordon's horse Tiger Roll ew also at 12/1. The value of the race
Willie Mullins' Gitane Du Berlalis severely overpriced for the Triumph - Leon
Gitane Du Berlais currently 16/1
Rutherglen at 14/1 for Dave. Tiger Roll 12/1 is favoured for an ew bet by Kevin. Popular here tonight!

Briar Hill banker of the meeting for the panel!

Kevin fancies The Giant Bolster at 16/1 for the Gold Cup. Last Instalment popular with Barry and Donn, NRMB if doesn't run
Tripoli d'alene 16/1 great ew bet according to Leon and Barry, improving and likes good ground
Dave doesn't rate Silviniaco Conti, Gordon reckons Last Instalment doubtful for Gold Cup
Bobs Worth/Briar Hill double of the meeting!

Barry rides Ericht 10/1 in the Novice Handicap Chase and reckons it could be one of his best rides of

So, we start on Tuesday, and look at the big race. Hurricane Fly wins his third Champion Hurdle & 20th Grade One. Right?
Paddock Preview ‏
Not sure Willie Mullins is into excessive hyperbole but thinks HF could be better than ever
Cornelius Lysaght ‏
I've opposed him in the past, but I'm struggling to do so this time. Our Conor and The New One the dangers.
Kevin Blake ‏
Well you say that confidently but at the moment, he's only the outright favourite with one firm
George Primarolo ‏
how perfect would that be; finally some recognition for a great horse. The New One to upset him?
Kim Bailey
A touch of place dropping going on here, but he was making exactly that point in Melbourne last November. Bullish even then
Lee Mottershead ‏
Can't have My Tent Or Yours on my mind. Jezki is the interesting one at a bigger price, poor rides last 2 runs
Kevin Blake ‏
My innermost feeling has generally been to oppose Fly. The feeling has always been wrong. I'll be opposing him again, though
Lee Mottershead ‏
Hurricane Fly = one defeat in 17 runs since 2009, in a tactical race. Hard not to like a horse like that at 3-1 or better
chris cook ‏
The two for me are The New One and Our Conor. Just not sure which. Both might well have as much pace as Fly but younger legs
Lee Mottershead ‏
What's your main objection to MTOY? Connections threatening to take control of the race with Captain Cee Bee
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview our Conor coming good at the right time? #cheltenpreview
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@PaddockPreview Love everything re The New One; terrific story but can I screw up eyes & see him beat HF? No
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
Agree with Kevin. I think MTOY is probably a very good horse but in an extremely good year.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
Would have to agree with - at the prices, HF is a bit too big. Expect him to be shorter come the off
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
I think I expect him to be much shorter. They love him.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
They had control with Captain CB twice this season and made a balls of it twice! Just think The New One is better.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
You been getting special prices over in Ireland, Chris?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview When I screw mine up I see something different - and you're right, would be a terrific story.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@kimbaileyracing @PaddockPreview Definitely looks to be and I can see a clear case for him.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview I was looking at Betfair, 100-30 just now. Have to take account of the commission, of course!
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview this the big one for NTD as he has won every big race bar CH
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
Can't but help think Our Conor will perform better on Tuesday than we've seen so far this year - dazzling in Triumph.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
3/1 available now with some firms. Will he be shorter? Yes. Will he win? On all known form, yes
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
Quickly on the Champion Hurdle, can anyone see an outsider make the frame? Melodic Rendezvous would be popular. Nice team
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview A very nice team and a very nice horse. Probably underrated but he could run a PB and not be placed.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@ashsh @PaddockPreview miss read that first time.. didnt read the 'nt!!
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
*DISCLAIMER* - younger horses can improve past a 10yo, especially on good ground
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
Agree and creeping closer to HF but work to be done
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
I'd normally prefer the previous Festival winner. But I think MTOY looked just the better horse at Kempton
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Captain CB will be a monstrous price, but likes the track and has been very sweet this season. You never know!
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield believes he is no back number. The ground will be dead on Tuesday . surprise
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@PaddockPreview Ptit Zig is way overpriced at 50-1 for a G1 winner this season. Wait to see him declared tho
chris cook ‏ 1h

@kimbaileyracing @PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield Yes. We had NIck and Jeremy at the @RacingLRC and they were pretty positive
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@HonestFrank @PaddockPreview is anybody out there?!
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@PaddockPreview Not Melodic R if this is as good a race as we say: the 3 will be HF, TNO, OC
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield @RacingLRC I bet they smiled a lot? Good team..
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
Everyone loves MR but every run this season suggests he'll be outpaced in this race before staying on at the death
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Not Melodic R if this is as good a race as we say: the 3 will be HF, TNO, OC
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
And by staying on, I mean staying on into third at best
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
Let's move to the opener, the Supreme Novices. Gotta love that roar. Any thoughts, panel, and how's Un Ace, Kim?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@kimbaileyracing @PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield Colleague saw NS take pearlier & still got up smiling!!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Vautour is very solid, but Wicklow Brave is preferred at the price. Very classy, best yet to come.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield really?
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@kimbaileyracing @PaddockPreview @Nick_Scholfield @RacingLRC A fun night was had by all!
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Not a fan of Irving, doesn't jump well enough, never gone left handed over jumps.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
Wicklow Brave keeps shortening for the Supreme but he doesn't look a natural hurdler to me
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview At a bigger price, Gilgamboa is very interesting. Improving rapidly, impressive in the Boylesports Hurdle LTO.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@AlyRowell Hi - glad you made it. There's a virtual cocktail waiting for you. We've done the Champ Hurdle, now Supreme
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview Really very keen on Gilgamboa. Travelled like a dream in major handicap, quickened well, has excellent form.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
If you're having a bet, check out the offers from the sponsors (@SkyBet) or the firm who have had lots of publicity this week
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
Like and I am a fan of Gilgamboa. That handicap form should prove v strong
chris cook ‏ 1h
Very surprised you can still get 16-1. Rider was taking a pull at the top of Leopy straight
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
But Vautour looked really classy the last day. Would say he's the most likely winner
chris cook ‏ 1h
Don't have a strong opinion but like Vaniteux as a horse and there seem to be some strong noises coming from the trainer
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Is there a drying ground issue for Gilgamboa
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
Agree. Willie M & Ruby hold the cards to this race. I believe Irving is better on flat tracks.
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 1h
He's interesting. Trainer seemed inclined not to run not long ago. Has clearly thrived recently.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
Sounds like you should be worried about this Gilgamboa, @kimbaileyracing ...
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview really happy with UA. Big ask and rumours not true that @Nick_Scholfield would like to ride him
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
Love one from that stable that thrives near to the Festival
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
Time to pick the pace up a little. Who wins the Arkle and any other Tuesday thoughts?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview Good-to-soft will be no problem, IMO.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Re ground (Sorry Kim) BBC forecast saying v warm & dry after tomorrow
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview I fear it will be a below-par Arkle. I'd be a bit negative on Champagne Fever and Trifolium.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
Grandouet will be single figures in the Arkle so if you fancy him, get on now
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Gun to head, I would go with Rock On Ruby, but with no mighty conviction.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Alan King goes into the meeting with fresh horses. Valdez is a good shout
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@Ldndmc And My Tent Or Yours. #knockingonthedoor
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview With his #CheltFest record Rock On Ruby banker for frame and could easily win.
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview hiring a bowser
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@PaddockPreview Have no idea why so many judges seem to be against Rock On Ruby. Can't see what there's not to like myself.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Apparently HF has BROKEN Rock On Ruby. He did break Peddlers across to be fair
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Peddlers Cross obv.
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Maybe that's why people haven't taken the Fly to their hearts. Bit of a brute.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview How can anyone claim ROR broken by anyone? #SkippedroundDonny
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
Kicking on to Wednesday, Champion Chase. At one preview, a wag said v weak renewal and the ambulance had an each-way shout..
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
It pains me but I have to take on Champagne Fever. Can't have his last run as the right prep for an Arkle winner
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview sadly without SS is possibly is Module for me
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
NJH notably strong re Grandouet at open day (though didn't detect it like I did !)@PaddockPreview It's in no way a vintage renewal but we're in the story business and Sire De Grugy would be great story.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
I did and he looked a picture. Some value in him as well.
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 1h
He's a massive price at the moment
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
I think all this talk of a weak Champion Chase is insulting to Sire De Grugy, a really talented beast + no forlorn hope vs SS
chris cook ‏ 1h
@kimbaileyracing @PaddockPreview Captain Conan, though I think ambulance line uncharacteristically harsh !
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Benefficient is a massive player if running, but I like Captain Conan, unexposed in fast-run 2m, more to come.
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
( Meaning SDG would have been no forlorn hope against Sprinter Sacre, if SS had turned up)
chris cook ‏ 1h
@kimbaileyracing @AlyRowell I know it's been a long day, but keep an eye on your hashtags
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview At NJH open day, head lad Corky Brown gave me a wink & said Captain Conan his big hope for Chelt. QMCC.
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 1h
@PaddockPreview @kimbaileyracing Sorry...big strong cocktail on empty stomach!
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 1h
I'd say a forlorn hope against a tip-top Sprinter Sacre but that would have been true of most former CC winners
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
The worry about SDG is that his season started in October + trainer wasn't thinking about Festival as late as December
chris cook ‏ 1h
He can probably run a few pounds below his best and still win. Hope he does win too.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
Why not Sizing Europe? 16/1? Clear second best to SS last year
George Primarolo ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Opp for me to say hairdresser part owner cutting Andrew Thornton's hair, @bbc5live Mon 9-10-30
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
You probably shouldn't rule out Badsworth Boy, either.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
Didn't get a wink like @alyrowell at NJH yard, but Hobbs team say Wishfull Thinking (33-1) very well. Each-way squeak
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview @bbc5live Very nicely plugged.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@AlyRowell @PaddockPreview dyslexic
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
Important not to underestimate SDG (easy to back today); though track might not suit, chance that won't matter
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
Quick look at the RSA Chase - any strong views?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@AlyRowell @PaddockPreview Are we sure the wink was related to Captain Conan?
chris cook ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Not a very strong view but would plump for Carlingford Lough if he runs.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview Carlingford Lough intriguing
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 1h
with you on Carlingford Lough. AP mentioned as target long way out PS Carlingford Lough a very nice spot
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview Duly noted. Always looking for new places to go. Went through Chobham for the first time on Tuesday.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 1h
@AlyRowell I think #thewink could be subject of much interpretation
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 1h
@PaddockPreview again one for AK and Smad Place
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 1h
@PaddockPreview If Ballycasey wins,he will be the first since Florida Pearl (1998) to win the RSA with just 2 runs over fences
Kevin Blake ‏ 1h
@PaddockPreview That said, I still think Ballycasey can do it. Wouldn't worry about his schooling fall, he is a class act.
Kevin Blake ‏ 59m
@kimbaileyracing @AlyRowell @PaddockPreview Excuses excuses Kim. #RaraRad
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 59m
@PaddockPreview @bbc5live Plugging seems to be ok unlike place dropping !!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 58m
Right let's wrap Wednesday - anything re Coral Cup etc Pull up to the Bumper, baby...
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 58m
@PaddockPreview The worry about Carlingford Lough is that he has been on the go for an awful long time. #galwayplatewinner
Kevin Blake ‏ 58m
@PaddockPreview Rebecca Curtis' O'Faolains Boy a massive price in RSA Chase #WinkWink
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 58m
No opinion on the RSA. As an aside, Jim Rosenthal is commentating on Crufts at the moment - that's versatility
George Primarolo ‏ 58m
@PaddockPreview I have a sneaky fancy for Silver Concorde in the bumper, but not a race I'd be too bullish about.
Kevin Blake ‏ 56m
@PaddockPreview @bbc5live You must plug better than I place drop. Credit where credit is due.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 55m
@PaddockPreview Have a big priced one for the Coral Cup if continues to dry up (news before 9!)
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 55m
@PaddockPreview Un Temps Pour Tout in the Coral Cup now that Sure Reef isn't in the Coral Cup.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 55m
In terms of the Bumper, I shall continue backing John Ferguson's selection until he wins it (El Namoose)
George Primarolo ‏ 54m
@PaddockPreview coral cup a timely winner for PF with Dunguib
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 54m
My main concern on the Weds is that Big Shu runs well enough to go to Aintree but not so well as to kill his chance there
chris cook ‏ 53m
@PaddockPreview I still rue the day I didn't back Cue Card in the Bumper so will back Third Act this year.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 52m
@PaddockPreview Let it go - those sorts of reverses will eat you up #carrickboy
George Primarolo ‏ 51m
@PaddockPreview not my fav race of the meeting..pin hit a Mullins
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 50m
Surprised to see 12s about Katgary in Fred Winter. Paul Nicholls sweet on French recruit. I suggest will go off shorter
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 50m
@PaddockPreview I know you're right but it's tough. The sight of him pulling double on the bend....
That sentiment may be repeated when we get to day 4 and the Gold Cup !!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 49m
The Gold Cup is not a good prep for Cup of Tea
George Primarolo ‏ 48m
Quick timeout, and maybe a tipple. Will retweet a few thoughts from followers then it's Thursday & World Hurdle
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 48m
Are you a Triolo fan? Will not stay 4m3f, alas, unless he has a wee sit down at halfway
chris cook ‏ 47m
@PaddockPreview How long we got?
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 46m
@PaddockPreview surprise and follow goodwood mirage in Fred winter. One hated juveniles and one jumping
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 46m
8.15 please!!
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 45m
Haha. How nicely put. #PaulaRadcliffe came to mind! No not into Triolo or Tea For Three but makes it challenging
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 43m
@PaddockPreview if we are having a break. MTOYs
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 42m
@kimbaileyracing Sounds like an in tents experience
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 41m
Hate trainers changing mind (NJH said TDE defo NOT going to GC); make good decisions 1st time cos good trainers !!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 39m
Cheltenham chat heading into Thur shortly at @PaddockPreview. We'll ask trainer Kim Bailey about Gold Cup & panel picks
Francis Keogh ‏@HonestFrank 38m
And...we're back in the room. World Hurdle, Thursday. Looks a blockbuster. Annie Power v Big Buck's & others. Discuss
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 37m
@PaddockPreview Wonderful race. Don't really have the strong objections many do to Annie Power not going for the Champion...
Lee Mottershead ‏ 35m
Annie Power hoses up in the World Hurdle. Then some people still bang on about which race she should have run in
chris cook ‏ 35m
@PaddockPreview ...if you respect Champion Chase compared to Gold Cup, you have to respect World Hurdle. It's a great clash.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 35m
@PaddockPreview And one I very much hope Big Buck's wins. Think he might well do just that too.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 34m
@PaddockPreview Every chance Annie Power (AP!) could be new racing phenomenon & with name/regular trips to GB could be HUGE
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 34m
@PaddockPreview For me, Big Buck's doesn't look the horse he was. If Annie Power stays, which she should, she'll bolt up.
Kevin Blake ‏ 34m
@PaddockPreview Big Bucks for me but perhaps Daryl Jacob had his reasons for not siding with him. Zarkandar the dark horse?
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 33m
The Power may be fading in the darting world but she's in the ascendancy elsewhere. The King is dead - long live the Queen
George Primarolo ‏ 33m
@PaddockPreview Some folk seem to want to browbeat WM into running AP against HF. Why would he want to?
chris cook ‏ 31m
Annie Power looks special, though I love it when Paul Nicholls believes in a horse (Big Buck's) & he does 'bring em back'
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 31m
@PaddockPreview Completely agree.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 30m
@PaddockPreview #AnniePower named after breeder's battling granny. More info? Dare I ask battling the GB in less peaceful times? Kevin?
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 29m
Lol, I detected it but I've been to that particular circus before
chris cook ‏ 28m
@PaddockPreview Annie has only beaten zarkandar..is that good enough. Great mare but big bucks will prevail
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 28m
@PaddockPreview #AnniePower named after breeder's battling granny. More info? Battling the GB in less peaceful times? Kevin?
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 28m
More Of That is still a lively one in the World Hurdle. Easy to see AP ruing his choice of At Fishers Cross
chris cook ‏ 26m
Right, buckle in, ready for boarding - the Ryanair. Think I'll pass on this one..
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 26m
To make it clear, Big Buck's dam is called Buck's. He's a big sort. hence Big Buck's
George Primarolo ‏ 26m
Completely agree too. As WM said at media day, if people ask him to train they know how it works!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 25m
Al Ferof has the ability for the Ryanair but he can't have enjoyed those last 2 runs. Benefficient has the Festival form
chris cook ‏ 24m
@PaddockPreview I sense John Hales would rather have passed on it, too, but I think his horse will win the race.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 23m
@PaddockPreview Number 2 nap of week = Benefficent in Ryanair #Courseform #Ticksalltheboxes
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 21m
@PaddockPreview The Ryanair. A race for non-stayers, the not-quite-good-enoughs and those with bottler connections. #notforme
Kevin Blake ‏ 20m
@PaddockPreview good call and agree Benefficent
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 19m
I'm loving 's take on this. Given Phil Hobbs' form this year compared to the the last two, Menorah has a chance
George Primarolo ‏ 19m
You'll have free flights for life at this rate, Kevin!
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 18m
Other Thur thoughts: Think Rajdhani Express (16/1) has claims in Byrne Plate for Sam Waley-Cohen. Won at Festival last year
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 18m
@PaddockPreview Bit mean. Cue Card is exactly the kind of horse shown to best advantage by the Ryanair
chris cook ‏ 17m
Think the Hobbs team will have good week. More of which later
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 17m
@PaddockPreview Once one of the good Championship races becomes available to sponsor, Ryanair will be changing races ASAP!
Kevin Blake ‏ 17m
@PaddockPreview Bit obvious and predictable but Indian Castle must have a smashing chance in the Kim Muir.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 16m
@PaddockPreview Think you'll find the Gold Cup might be up for grabs based on earlier RP stories this season
Lee Mottershead ‏ 14m
Hunt Ball should be in the Ryanair. But because the handicapper perversely dropped him 6lb last time, he'll run in a handicap
chris cook ‏ 14m
@PaddockPreview Very WELL WRITTEN and INSIGHTFUL RP stories !! #Whowrotethem
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 13m
@PaddockPreview Oscar Whisky won't run a bad race in the JLT & is a reasonable price. Loves Chelt (211 there this season).
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 13m
As an aside Sam Waley-Cohen told me that he'd hopefully be on Roberto Goldback in Kim Muir, Anquetta (Grand Annual)
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 13m
@PaddockPreview You'll make me blush, stop it!
Lee Mottershead ‏ 13m
@PaddockPreview Such a shame. I genuinely would have laid down and died for the old Tote
George Primarolo ‏ 12m
@PaddockPreview That's the kind of man you are George.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 11m
@PaddockPreview #ThoughtitwasGrahamGreen !!
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 11m
Alfie Sherrin - Kim Muir. Two great names. Two Festival favourites
George Primarolo ‏ 10m
Charging on to the Gold Cup, the rest of Friday, then your selections. First up, the Gold Cup. Bobs Worth worthy fav?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 10m
Alfie Sherrin - Kim Muir. Two Festival favourites
George Primarolo ‏ 10m
@PaddockPreview #Mybubbleiswellandtrulypricked
Lee Mottershead ‏ 9m
@PaddockPreview Bobs Worth is the rock solid, incredibly dull selection. If Last Instalment doesn't run, it will lose sparkle.
Kevin Blake ‏ 8m
Bobs Worth definitely a worthy fav. But Silviniaco Conti has had a better season and is more tempting at the odds
chris cook ‏ 8m
@PaddockPreview gold cup could change dramatically during week. Bobs worth ever chance to reclaim crown .. Unless it rains!!
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 8m
@PaddockPreview A defending champ, triple Festival winner and Grade 1 victor last time. Must be a worthy fav.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 7m
Just need to give a big @PaddockPreview welcome to England rugby union legend @JonSleightholme
George Primarolo ‏ 7m
@PaddockPreview Briar Hill would be my banker of the week in the Albert Bartlett. His massive talent is shrouded by laziness.
Kevin Blake ‏ 7m
@PaddockPreview At a bigger price, Arctic Fire makes appeal in the County Hurdle. Crying out for a fast pace and lots of cover
Kevin Blake ‏ 6m
Come on then @kimbaileyracing. How is Harry Topper, does he need soft in going description, what's his chances?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 6m
@PaddockPreview Yes - Bob's Worth 5 from 5 at Chelt but looking at race, some value beyond the top 2.
Aly Rowell ‏@AlyRowell 5m
@PaddockPreview Can't see him getting him beat, either. Worry is I thought same of Boston Bob in same race.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 5m
@PaddockPreview Likewise!
Kevin Blake ‏ 4m
@PaddockPreview HT is flying but will want soft in going description. Forecast not helpful.
Kim Bailey ‏@kimbaileyracing 4m
@PaddockPreview BW loves Chelt, but Silviniaco C was going like winner when falling & is on up up up; The GB outstanding EW
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 4m
@PaddockPreview So costly.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 3m
The Giant Bolster is going to hit the frame again isn't he?
George Primarolo ‏ 3m
@kimbaileyracing Would Harry Topper run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup if say Good, Good to Soft places, do you think?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 3m
@PaddockPreview @kimbaileyracing Will HT run anyway or are you preparing to scratch ? #Weatherforecast
Cornelius Lysaght ‏ 3m
Am personally looking forward to seeing Knockara Beau finishing an honourable sixth
George Primarolo ‏ 3m
I so hope the ground allows Harry Topper to have a cut at the Gold Cup. We haven't seen the best of him by miles
chris cook ‏ 3m
@AlyRowell Where is this value!?
Paddock Preview ‏@PaddockPreview 2m
Find Bobs Worth's case much the most persuasuve but can also see Triolo and Rocky running very big races.
Lee Mottershead ‏ 2m

I wonder how many of those who say Big Buck's is finished said the same about Kauto Star before he came back and smacked Long Run all over the place in the Betfair and KG ?

Jockeys talk such shite. How can Barry G keep a straight face when he says Al Ferof has no chance in the Ryanair after talking up Captain Conan.
