RP has a pull out today on the top flat horses (presume there will be a jump one later) with some interesting comments from the trainers.

I dread to think. I know Timeform had him on 132.

I think you need to be a member of their special club to find out.

It makes no sense. If it's the Champion Stakes win over Montjeu they must have the latter only three or four pounds below his best RPR for that day - which is ludicrous.

I feel i could go blue in the face from repeatedly saying this but the rating given to Dalakhani is ludicrous. He may have been a very good horse but he never hit 130.

The position of Montjeu is insulting to the horse. At his best he is right on par with the likes of Sea The Stars and certainly Dubai Millennium while far superior to the likes of Alamshar, Galileo etc.

The RPR for Giant's Causeway is 131, with High Chaparral on just 130.

As much as I love Fame And Glory (131) I just can't see how they put him 1lb ahead of HC.

The 133 for Montjeu is the lowest rating from any ratings agency. We all know he was better than Dubai Millennium who they have on 139!!

They nearly have the right 25 but certainly in the wrong order.

Far from being a flat shrewdie, where is High Chapparal?

See my post that just beat yours... HC is just outside the top 25, on just 130... they've clearly been at the Christmas sherry as he's better than half the horses above him.

There is no way that Authorized's Derby was better than Zarkava's Arc.

Absolute cobblers that Zarkava didn't feature.

I'd also put Rail Link's Arc ahead of Hurricane Run's myself.

Authorized was included for his Juddmonte victory I think.

It was going to be very hard for a filly to get in when they based it on RPRs.

True, no Ouija Board or Peeping Fawn either.

Shows what a load of crap RPRs are really and why they should be always taken with a pinch of salt.

All in all, I don't see a great deal wrong with the list. Nice feature and the paper was worth the £1.70 just for that. A good job seeing as it only stretched to 60 pages.
