very impressive

since I follow racing
he is the best jumper of a fence I have seen with Fondmort, The Listener and Sprinter sacre

he will be a very hot favorite in the John durkan for me , even if Sir Des Champs runs

jumps like sprinter sacre if he doesn't have quite the same gears

shame he isn't in the king george

I'd say any ground other than good to firm will be fine for him. Working out his best trip is going to attract plenty of debate.

Great to have to 2 rising stars for gold cup from Ireland, would be big draw at Christmas if 2 meet in Lexus, rather that than sending one to Kempton

Indeed Reckless, both horses will be a danger to all this season and Ireland have their best chance of a Gold Cup winner for 7 years !

For those superstitious, however,an Irish trained horse has only ever won it once in a year ending in the figure 3 since it's inception.....Knock Hard in 1953 !

It would be some fun watching Clare Balding trying to interview Peter Casey live, she'd have to have a choke leash around his neck and yank it each time he used a swear word.

Bar the Bull, the reason I mention it is the next Gold Cup is in 2013...not 2021 or 2022 !

You follow ?

Nickname won 9 chase, 8 of which were graded. He won nearly €1 million in prize money.

If the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2007 had been on soft or heavy, he probably would have won it.

He achieved an RPR of 170.

I don't think it is harsh on Flemenstar.

Some horses need soft ground to jump effectively out of. Nickname was one and Rubi Light is another. Flemenstar does not need it.

That may be the case (I am not sure that it is). But I think that Flemenstar needs soft / heavy ground in order to be able to run faster than other graded horses.

I guess we will see when he faces a sharper tool than Rathlin on good ground.

Before Flemenstar came along the best jumper of a fence in Ireland imo was Rubi Light. That horse has never looked as spectacular jumping out of good ground though, particulary at Cheltenham. In the Powers Gold Cup on good ground Flemenstar was just as spectacular as in his races on deep. I sincerely hope we do see him against SDC or First Leftenant or Last Instalment on decent ground before the Festival.
