Forum Horse Connections

Inspired by Shergar Cup and the Grey Horse Handicap, I have decixded to come out of a self-imposed four month hibernation. This is the inside story of why we bought Chosen Comrade (and why we didn't buy a few others). Photos and videos, and maybe some horses to track for the 25/26 NH season. I hope you find it interesting.

Hopeful Hero has been declared for Killarney Thursday .
Alan O'Sullivan does the steering again.
8 runners, only the Slattery runner to worry about (apart from holes, meteors, shooting stars , famine, swarms of wasps , the Loch Leane Monster, the Ghost of Ross Castle , the Healy Raes, angry unfed gondolas.)
Wish us well

"Good Luck this Evening".

That was enjoyable even if the ground was over watered , for us at least.
The winner was very impressive but has a long back and I wonder if he will be a long term proposition.
Our fellow barely stays 2 miles so the last furlong would be a problem even on a track less heavily watered.
Rocking on hopefully over hurdles with /without a try in a flat maiden.
P.S. Alan O'Sullivan is a gent, deserving all the best of luck in his career.
Thanks for all the likes and good wishes.

We try hurdles for the first time Monday Roscommon 1.40.
Well schooled, jockey Donogh Meyler is keen to partner and Tom Lord Hogan is ever optimistic.
We have Rakki and Hobart, rated 107 and 104 respectively to beat along with an Elliot runner with decent placed flat form.
We have find out what we have and take it from there.
Delighted to see Casheldale Lad give his sire a boost at Listowel yesterday; it all helps.
Hope for a trouble free round with no holes to fall into this time.

Today’s race was not too discouraging. She ran on well when it was all too late, giving the impression that she needs further.

She had had a hard race on debut, and possibly because she remembered that, she got quite stirred up leaving the parade ring today. But Áine O’Connor got her to relax and she settled well at the back of the field despite the slow pace for most of the race.

She was caught for toe when the pace quickened and turning into the straight she could easily have been dropped. But she dug in, showed resolve and started to stay on.

Hopeful Hero declared for Punchestown Bumper Wed 5.05.
Alan O'Sullivan rides again .
A small entry was the carrot for Trainer Tom to revert to Bumpers, along with an itch he needs to scratch given his faith in the horse's ability.
Emmet Mullins has one placed in a Ballinrobe bumper, Gordon has a debutant purchased after a p2p second and there are others of unknown ability.
2m 95yds is the official trip; I hope the final 95yds won't find us out.
Wish us well.

Second again !!.
The winner had run in a top 4 yo Bumper at Punchestown Festival where first five were subsequent winners and he was a hampered eighth.
By Famous Name descending from Mrs Moss he had killer speed in his family and too much for us today.
A proper race where five or six were well fancied and backed ; 6 lengths separating the first eight home we cannot complain despite initial post race disappointment.
We remain hopeful going forward.
Thanks for all the good wishes once again.

Back again to Down Royal Friday for another Bumper 4.20 with Hopeful Hero.
Just the five runners , a duo of Gordon p2p winners, one from A J Martin and one from Crawford's academy.
Ground looks ideal once the rain stays away .
Lots of top amateurs rang up for the ride but Tom remains loyal to Alan O'Sullivan.
I feel a bit like Del Boy "this time next year we'll be skint !", so enjoy it while we can.
