With future changes in mind...whats everyones thoughts ideas on the following software. TRF changes were pretty drastic and not sure for the better so input/ideas from the members who are actually going to use it would be beneficial...the site lets you create your own forum as a demonstration.

Possible forum changes

Not much between them for me. VBulletin is generally regarded as a bit higher spec, but Invision has the better usuability, plus it is a little bit cheaper.

If we are starting a wish list (I don't think we were but what the hell) then please can you consider something with rss capabilities?

Cheers

No harm in throwing ideas about betsmate...your handy with these sort of things so your input is appreciated....any changes are some way off.

Being a bit old fashioned, I do take time to get use to change.

I love the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" BUT if the new software means added security and additional features people will use and enjoy then I will go along with whatever the majority decide although it might take me about 6 months and lots of grumbling before I get use to it ..... :dork:

That is the worry Kathy, and again (without been hard on TRF) TRF showed you need to do it properly if your going to do it at all.
RSS lads?

Really simple syndication.

It is like a list of posts that is constantly refreshed. You can then point a reader (not too disimilar to Microsoft Outlook) at the website, along with all of your other favourite sites, and every time there is a new post it pops up.

You still need to come to the forum to read it and post, so no loss of traffic.

I have every confidence it will be done properly, Galileo.

There are always going to be small issues to iron out once new software installed, but I am sure the moderators can do it all between 2am and 4am on a Monday morning before the NH season starts , and have it all running perfectly and all issues resolved by the time Colin Phillips signs on at 06:30am! :D

You need to seperate rss feeds as well, if you dont re-route them to your own section u will end up with loads of one post threads everywhere and it will look tacky and in the long run will put members off posting.

I think this is it an earlier posting on this thread that explains, jft2005
