In this thread we're inventing a new sport - Forumball.

We have a large empty field and a football, we can introduce any other equipment as we see fit.

What are the rules?

Rule 1 of Forumball is - 20 Players on each team

More rules please....

Weapons carried by players are to be used only as clubs
Eh? Don't know about you, but I don't much fancy clubbing someone with a loaded blunderbuss.

Now firing a load of rusty nails right at their backside I could get into......

I'll have to object to that one. At school, the girls were not allowed to play contact sports, which was a shame as we were all desperate to play rugby. Hockey was allowed, but I always thought that was one of the most violent games of all that we played and certainly resulted in the worst injuries.

Forum sports kit to be Jimmy Choos and pink and yellow striped lycra leotards for the men.

Ladies attire to be selected on special shopping trip to London, paid for by all the male forum members. with over-night stay included....

In-game refreshments to be plundered - oops, sorry selected - from Lord Hartigan's cellar beforehand ...
Do you mean to say he grows oranges in there?

Thwe word "orange" has to be pronounced as it was by the slightly wizened Frenchman in that old Cointreau advert...
It nearly always is in this house anyway  My father-in-law is a retired languages teacher and orange juice is always said in French or German

one horse per team, used by team captains to go for refreshments and first aid, as these are kept on the sideline, and the pitch is 100 square acres.

Female team members to wear 1970s hot pants if game to be held in the summer months .

Port and stilton to be served at half time
