Game Spirit Chase

This is a very easy contest to sort out -

Edwardstone is almost as old as me.

Master Chewy is 6/4 to end up on the deck.

Libberty Hunter has a badly-spelt name.

JPR One has a silly name.

I was there when Matata won at Windsor and the first law of racing is any horse I personally see win is a stone better than on paper.

In addition, because of the false start, Slevin wasn't where he wanted to be when they finally jumped off, he took a mile to get where he wanted to be, but the most improved 2m chaser in training apart from Solness still won by half the track easing down.

The only chance the others have got is if they start now, which is problematic as it's dark at the moment, a frequently-occurring phenomenon at night.

By dawn it will be too late.

Enjoy the rout, I mean race.

Your RPR on Matata

Can you explain?

As wilsonl says, that's the RPR as published on Thursday, adjusted to 12-0.

Before that last race I wrote:

My gut is telling me Crebilly might be good enough to win at the festival so they might not want to go up the weights. Harper’s Brook is risky becaue he needs to be put in front really near the line before he stops. Sans Bruit doesn’t instil confidence. Arctic Bresil might have his own ideas about the game. Martator ran on Saturday so will probably come out. Unexpected Party looks like they’re trying to work his way back down the handicap, maybe with a repeat go at the Grand Annual in mind. Editeur Du Gite looks a shadow of his old self, as does Etalon but in his cse it has looked deliberate, again possibly with the Grand Annual in mind. Matata might therefore be the only trier in the race.

So i wasn't surprised it won easily.

I think Edwardstone had two major targets all season -the First is the Game Spitit and secondly he will be ridden for place in the Champion Chase.

Let me make this perfectly clear. I have never worked for Nicky Henderson and have never met the man. I have however ridden out for several top class trainers , owned horses and I spent a lot of time in the company of some of the best jockeys in the north. My best friend was one of those jockeys and you find out who the bent trainers and jockeys are. In all my years in racing I never heard even a whisper about Nicky Henderson being corrupt or being a gambler..and I assure you those who were corrupt were known to all. So when someone says Henderson is a crook as far as I am concerned they are talking a load of shit🙏

Well done, Viking - absolutely no excuses for Matata, got the soft lead it was deprived of at Windsor, jumped well enough, and still couldn't beat the winner despite, getting weight.

I suspected beforehand last time that Matata might be the only trier in the race and that’s how it looked so I have reservations about his new OR which is based on that run. Edwardstone is running well but some way short of his best of a couple of seasons ago but is vulnerable to the novices. I might look at Master Chewy or JPR One at tempting odds.

Aftertiming to a degree but I got 9/1 Master Chewy this morning with the BOG so that would have covered me for the day before the Schweppes :)
