I'm sitting here watching the Springsteen set on I-Player. Brilliant, wish I had been there. Great coverage by the Beeb. Not only am I enjoying the music but for some odd reason I get a buzz that there are thousands of youngsters doing exactly -well almost- what I would be doing. I'm nearer 60 than 50 but would seem have a lot in common with Glastonbury audience. For me that's great.

Conversely I find the Telegraph attack on the Beeb pathetic.Since they are providing all the technical support and all the coverage of course they need lots of people, mainly temporary contractors. In Beijing the technical stuff and the vast majority of TV content was provided by the Chinese.
Snide comments about block booking hotels is really poor. How many hotels do you need for just over 400 people. The Telegraph makes it sound like wild extravagance. Critise something if you wish but be balanced for f**k's sake.

Hmmm, I just don't see Springsteen's appeal. Middle of the road, unoriginal rock, performed moderately well.

just watched Madness & Status Quo

they showed a bit of Springsteen afterwards..the sound was really poor..was it poor when they showed it last night?

i missed springsteen

looking a bit old now though

i find that older footage is my favourite way of viewing stuff these days...it just don't look right when they are 60 odd

I've seen a few bits this evening; isn't Tom Jones looking ropey?? He looks to me like the sad medallion man lecherous type that you'd find propping up the bar in an 'English pub' in Marbella. One that has large signs outside screaming that they sell full English fry ups.

I've found Springsteen within the last 10 mins or so on the red button - has he already performed/will he perform Down To The River? That's one song I love.

Not sure he'll perform it now, SL, considering his set was last night!

He did do The River BTW; about half-way through the set (or just before) IIR.

It's on now, and he's singing The River at the moment. My cock up with the title, but one of my favourite songs nonetheless.

I was asking if he performed it since I knew it was a recording!

i don't mind Bruce..didn't like him in the 70's...always thought there was a lot of hype behind him at the start..he had a lot of competition in the 70's..made it in the 80's when lots of the competition had gone quiet

some good songs though

its not the same as seeing these bands as young men though when they had real fire in their bellies

I've always liked Springsteen but not been that into him (other than loving The River) but I'm very much enjoying watching this set.

will they show the whole of his set on the red button Track?

Not a clue, EC1 - watched it on I-Player.

Agreed, Shads - thought it was a cracking set though the sermon during the middle of Working On A Dream was cringe-worthy.

Have they done the jig yet?

Very good set, saw it from pretty much the song before The River so missed the sermon! Flicking around and lighted on Madness now.
