Glorious Goodwood 2021

GL, Euro, though I reckon Siskany might prevail again, on this softer ground.
Have added Seattle Rock 8/1 to the 2 mentioned on Barjohn's thread, as I reckon she didn't show her best on fast gound, latest.

I'm a committed fan of Alcohol Free.In 7 races she has only been out of the frame once, on that occasion on GF. She needs give in the ground to give her best performance.Today's ground will suit her fine whilst disadvantaging several of her opponents. I"ve been putting a portion of my winnings on her for this race since the AP books opened and have quite a few bets on, mainly ew at prices from 8/1 down to 5/!. Given that she won on heavy ground at Ascot, soft today on a downhill track should be ideal. Poetic Flare is a superb horse when she has conditions in her favour but today they are against her.
I have won and lost several large bets (by my standards nowadays) backing her but am very positive today.
PS. Just seen REET's post. I too have backed Seattle Rock (in the same ownership) though to a much lesser amount simply because I'm not as positive. Both winning would be very nice and a good start to a fanciful multiple.

Aunty Bridy is the 14/1 outsider in the 4:45. Down in Class, first handicap and up in trip. A Group horse in Ireland at 2yo she has been highly tried by Haggas without even a glimmering of success - can he work the Haggas magic.

Agree Reet. I've had a small each way single on Tilsit and have him in each way doubles with Siskany and my Stewards Cup fancy Chil Chil. They should go a nice pace today and that will suit the Juddmonte entrant. Any double figure price is too big.

The Siskany bet is cover for my main bet on Nagano. I took 5s when the ap market formed. He was very eye catching at the Royal meeting and went straight into my tracker.

Yes Tilsit each way with the dead eight runners look the best bet.

Isabella Giles well backed, won at the track and can win the second race.

Sticking with Chase The Dollar in the first, even though he's drifted to a big price. I'd be delighted if he placed.

Another quiet punting day for me:

1.50 Kings Prince, Pied Piper and Recovery Run (to varying stakes) against the field.

3.35 Century Dream (ew 25/1 and 14/1 w/o Poetic Flare)

Well done Nagano backers. I was worried for you in the first half-mile but he ultimately did it very well. I reckon the form will prove very strong 'cos the Godolphin was a proper job and the way the race unfolded suggested the pace was strong.

Excellent win, TS.

Murphy very 'professional' late on, making sure Poetic Flare was never going to get through on the inside.

Thanks DO! I backed her to win the Guineas and included her in most of my Cheltenham multiples. I watched Chief Singer win the first time Jeff picked up the Sussex. A brilliant day out with the missus then and a welcome pick-me up in present circumstances now. All i need now is Jeff's 2 others to win.

Few nice wnners on the threa today - none of mine. Onward and upwards.

Ebro River (Richmond ) won 2 on sft, then ran well in a couple of gp2's, but on quick ground. Back to his metier tomorrow, and he's clearly highly though of as his gp1 entries testify.
11/2 B365.

In 1992 I was in Glasgow with a pal to watch Rangers take on Marseille in a pre-season friendly and we were in a bookies in the city centre before the match. We were both on Lochsong ante-post at 16s for the Stewards Cup. We roared it home in our Lancashire accents to plenty of fish-eyes from the locals. Good times.

King Frankel 1.50 ran a stormer to be beaten a nose at Epsom (quirky, like Goodwood), then suffered a poor trip when 4th at Ascot. His lto run is easily forgiven, as fast grond isn't his bag. Worth a punt @ B365's 11/2.

I have Lady Bowthorpe at a nice price for the Nassau. Covered with the Fanshawe filly as I don't rate Joan of Arc. The Diane looked **** weak.

Only other bet is Showalong each way in the last. Was asked to do too much early doors last time out at Ascot.

Wow.

What a performance from Ottoman Emperor.

Stepping up from a handicap in Ireland.

I had a small bet on him more in hope than expectation, thinking it was a bit too experimental stepping him up so much in grade, but well done Johnny Murtaghs and connections.

He's a very exciting prospect now.

Good performance but think Frankie should have been closer. Gave Sir Lucan an awful lot to do.

Nice one, Euro. You seem to be on fire lately. Long may it continue!

If the ground softens today I can’t see Johan out of the frame in the Golden Mile. Drawn in 2, loves the ground, in good form and always runs his race. 8/1 looks big to me at the moment but the forecast is important.

Maydanny has drifted to 10s for the Golden Mile and with his draw and his run style that's too big. He will trade much shorter during the race so I'm backing and will partially lay IR.

Tempted by Dragon Symbol in the sprint but the price diff between himself and Battaash is just not wide enough.

Without a Fight should arguably second fav in the Mogul race so he's worth a go each way at 10s

Pablo Escobarr to win the 4.10.

He won the same race last year to add to an excellent record at this track.

He's the type of horse to pop up in the same race and win it again, IMHO.
