Help Required With Excel Formula

Can anyone give me a simple formula to use in an Excel worksheet.

I want to know the percentage profit using the purchase price in one cell say A1, the selling price in a second cell say B1, with the formula being placed in a third cell C1. I can do it in my head no prob but can't get the formula right in Excel.

=(B1-A1)/A1*100

Leave off the *100 if the cell is formatted as a percentage.
