I boldly predict the next interview with Charlie Mann contains the phrase "I've never had Air Force One so good, and I'm expecting a big run".

Time For Rupert really jumps off the page for this. The Irish entry looks. Dry weak in my mind. King Fontaine perhaps is another J might have look for at a big price.

Pricewise going for Michel Le Bon (I know, I'll just go for the least exposed Nicholls horse) and Planet of Sound.

Like Gearoid I'm firmly in the TFR camp if he runs.

Disappointed Promising Anshan wasn't entered but he'll win today.

He'd be 9 lb out of the weights, which is a tough ask. Impressed with him at Ascot, though, and he's certainly one to be positive about given his age/lack of experience.

Well I don't know what you guys think about this but having had a look tonight I noticed a lot of horses entered like to be on the pace, Great Endeavour to name just one, and I can see a cut throat scenario happening from the front in this, and although admittedly some of the one's i'm talking about will run in the Betfair Chase on Saturday, I'm still of the opinion this could suit hold up protaginsts such as Chicago Grey and possibly Muirhead currently at double figure prices were they to run.

Chicago Grey stays all day and could be one to be suited most if the race is run at break neck pace. None of these are looking like GC standard, as Weird Al and Time For Rupert won't go, therefore none to my mind will be good enough to make all or dictate everything from the front over 27F.

Anyone know if why Elliots horse is not quoted by all firms, have I plumped early for a non runner?

Lots of Mackeson winners go on to the Hennessey but it's such a different race ..course and distance trained for one race, nthe second an afterthought

Celestial Gold was a one off and Great Endeavour was trained for the One race and you'd have to think that there are others trained specifically for the Hennesey ESP Nicholls horses.....Great Endeavour could be the biggest false fav for a long time

Elliot is shrewdly running Chicago Grey down the field in plausibly stamina testing races, in order to assure a mark of around 146 at Aintree next April. After never getting competitive at Cheltenham as recently as the weekend past, it has to be debatable whether he will go to Newbury - and even if he does, expect to see him either pull-up three out, or finishing a never-nearer 19L seventh. This horse will have his day next spring.

So true, cannot everyone see this too?

I'll be having an e/w poke if he declared at the next stage anyway, thanks for your input people. I don't think he would effectively put the horse away for the next five months; the Hennessy is a prestigious race in itself.

I was astounded how many people were backing Chicago Grey at the weekend. Why on earth would he want to win that race and then carry more weight in the nash? All about April for him.

There is as much 33/1 available as you can gobble up. Not for me I'm afraid. I am only so so about Elliot and think this horse has had plenty of it and may not be in utter love with the game. He has to be pretty exposed at this stage.

I’m keen on Wayward Prince for this. Ladbrokes go 12/1.

Totally. For me was our version of Noble Prince and Realt Dubh as a Novice as he just kept finding more under pressure. Nice weight and the longer trip will suit. Very fair price.

If declared & the ground is soft, I would be keen on Joncol. A proven Grade 1 performer in a handicap, with a liking for left handed tracks.
Impressed with his seasonal debut & interestingly, Paul Nolan ensure a rund prior to November 6th (penalties incurred for Henessey after this date). I can see a big run from him if a confirmed runner.

I like Joncol, but he’ll have to do it close to the top of the weights off 164 and run up to what Denman did on his first win. I prefer to look a little lower down the handicap. I don't think you could be confident about Joncol giving 12lb to the likes of Wayward Prince or Beshabar, or 18lb to Wymott.

There were no significant absentees from the Hennessy Gold Cup at the six-day entry stage on Monday.

Paul Nicholls' Neptune Collonges heads the 19 horses left in the Newbury feature with Aiteen Thirtythree and Michel Le Bon also set to represent the champion trainer.

Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Great Endeavour is David Pipe's sole entry while Wymott is the only representative of Grand National-winning trainer Donald McCain.

Wayward Prince, Joncol, Beshabar, Sarando and The Giant Bolster are other well-fancied horses to stand their ground.

Philip Hobbs could be triple-handed wih Planet Of Sound, Balthazar King and Fair Along.

Carruthers, Tullamore Dew, Billie Magern, Muirhead, Blazing Bailey and Qhilimar complete the entries.

Some nice horses in the field but it just leaves me thinking how lucky we've been to have had Denman lining up in this race in the last few years.
