home & hosted, UG, and thanks so very much for sharing ( I must think of something else to say, but what shrug:: )

Brilliant stuff as usual

I do believe you labelled Abragante incorrectly - surely it should have been "Abragante - what mugs ever thought this even close enough to being good enough to win??"

And where's Boys?!?!

I have first of all to point out that I am in fact Isinglass impersonating my other half as he is already signed in.

Thanks for sharing, as always. Of course I love the Denman ones because he is my kind of guy, but Big Bucks is pretty outstanding looking too. And Inglis.

I love the one of Kelrev with Christian bent over the horse. It is a great shot.

Brilliant!

I actually managed to chat to UG on Saturday for a whole 10 minutes inbetween races. I spied Mick Fitz behind him (whilst we were sheltering from a cloud burst) wearing little more than a towel. Well, I thought it would have made a great photo :shy: :D

I saw him hanging around on Sunday looking a bit disconsolate after the second race. I thought it might have been because he forgot about the dog-leg in the running rail when riding a finish on Barber Shop and allowed Big Buck's to grab him on the line.

But maybe it was because Kathy wasn't there.

Nice photos, by the way. :)

Great pics, thanks guys - I esp loved the one of Abragante - what a character!!
Talk about taking the ***** - if anyone had seen his expression before the race they'd never have backed him LOL - not that I could see how anyone would anyway in a hot race like this.

The Tother One has a lovely intelligent head doesn't he, and that's a great shot of his neatly tucked in front legs; def one I shall be following

Mixed feelings seeing that one of Nevada Royale and Dartnell's - I had judged this a two horse race and put on a biggish RFCT :brows: so had just been counting my money as they come over the last... on watching the rerun in the Tote Club you could see NR's utter despair in a closeup of his face coming up to the fence - he just kind of crumpled on landing from sheer exhaustion.

In usual, NH fashion, almost everone on the course stayed standing for the full 15 mins or so whilst the horse was down behind the screens - there was a huge yell of joy and great waves of applause as he bobbed back up then was walked in by his very happy lass. He had stuck his tail out horizontally after leaving his hind legs in the water first time round, so I think he may have hurt his back - it was sticking up and out at a crazy angle when he walked in {quite happy with the attention if a little bemused!} - so I guess he'll need some physio

I think he was a very willing, brave horse on the day as he did his best for young Sam to finish, though might have been hurting all the way round. My friend I had a drink with after the race who was an eventer and now schools jumpers, remarked that he was a very big raw horse who would "need a lot of organising". I wonder if a more experienced jock might have felt something wrong after the water and pulled him up. In any event, happily he lives to race another day. Can anyone with a phone contact at the yard ask how he is?

Yes, interesting that the view we had from up above showed that quite clearly eh Grey - I think Fitzy got away with that as no-one noticed, not least as the horse saved him by going around it anyway at the last minute so he didn't have to do a dramatic swerve right handed!!!!

Rory - how would you know?! I'd be assuming that the hangover today would be such that you couldn't see any of the photographic portfolios anywhere near close to being in focus anyway!!!!!! :p

I'm sure he's fine ~ his tail carriage was nothing to do with the mistake, as he was carrying it that way from the start. You can also see from his athletic jump at the next fence that he hadn't done any serious damage with that howler at the water.

To be quite fair, I too was worried after the mistake at the water that he would be awkward and would be pulled up. However he recovered very well and his jumping and galloping after said fence was fine.

I haven't been able to look at the re-runs that closely - happened to miss that race on ruk on Monday! - so thanks for pointing that out. He's such a grand type, would be shame if the two mistakes did him any damage. Interesting tho that he was carrying his tail like that from the start - I'd always been led to believe that was a sign of something hurting in the back, eg pinched nerve or muscle problem

Some horses just do carry it like that, even though you're right, it can often be a sign of discomfort in the back.
