Afternoon,

I have been delt a few betting blows in the past at the hands of inept jockeys as I'm sure most of you have, but when you see rides that offer no explanation into the thought processing of these individuals there is no other option but to ask questions.

Has anyone ever hand written a letter into the BHA and recieved feedback?

I am currently writing at letter to the BHA now and hope that they investigate.

Has anyone got a reply on the topic in question?

I am interested if anyone has had anything looked into further by the BHA?

Yes. Try the amazing world of google. But please name the race in question, and how much you had on said horse?

If you complain about "rides that offer no explanation into the thought processing of these individuals", then don't expect a reply. Especially if you're unwilling to identify any individuals.

Surely you are better waiting for a week, Bruce?

By that time, the post will be back to normal, and Santa will have delivered a nice new pack of crayons for you to use.

I think that naming the jockeys is down to my discretion, and certainly wouldn't like to label anyone inept if there is a valid reason for their ride.

You have to be careful in this game Rory.

I'm fairly sure no one has been successfully sued for calling another inept. It's hardly libellous, unless you think inept means something else, of course.

Watch this race from december 30th 2009 kirby was literally shitting himself 2fs out as he had to take a pull on bishopsbriggs, after this race i had one of my biggest bets at 10s returned 7/2 fav. This is a write up i sent out to a mate of mine.

BISHOPBRIGGS

Interestingly reappeared the other day having not been seen since May and is now in the Quinlan stable.

Previously its four runs this year have been 9/12 11/11 11/12 12/13. All these 4 runs were for J Ryan

Now both those HQ yards have a reputation for having horses that may not actually be trained by the holder.

Travis Block rode the horse in 3 of those 4 runs and they are his only 3 rides for J Ryan stable in last 5 years, strange imo as he a West Isley based jockey yet gets on this HQ horse.

Horse now down as owned by Maurice Kirby and is uncle of the jockey Adam Kirby. Kirby not really a go to jockey for the Quinlans either, just 15 rides last 5 years.

The horse started life for the gambling owner Willie McKay through various trainers and Adam Kirby had an association with that set up and rode this horse a number of times, most notably on its last run under Willie McKays ownership and prior to its move to J Ryan.

So one win off OR65 over 6 furlongs and whilst not a world beater did head up to low 70’s BUT ran the other day off 52.

Also of its 26 previous starts only 4 were over 7f or further.

The other day Kirby was positive from the gate and even though he sat nicely in the box seat at halfway, off a good pace, he purposely kick on at half way to take the lead and leader on, a strange manoeuvre and unnecessary BUT on a horse that may be is better over 6 and has been off for 226 days, then a surely fire way to get it beat. Turning in I think Kirby got worried as he was still in front and whilst he wouldn’t have won the horse didn’t fade rapidly under a less than vigorous ride:lol:

Excellent analysis Gigilo - half the yards in Newmarket appear to be for rent to persons unfit to hold a licence currently.

Seems to be getting a lot of plaudits lately though adam kirby, almost a punters friend but as anyone can see all is not as it seems with lots of these jocks.I remember seeing mister sadik pulling callan off crusoe at wolverhampton and saying he would never ride for him again, deliberately never put it in the race.I've been through archives but can't find the race on replays was a fair few years ago.

March 2003 - jockey reported he'd lost his goggles and couldn't see, so stopped riding. Seems a perfectly plausible excuse to me.

When the latest corruption rumours were ciculated during the summer his name was very much to the fore. Clearly though he has never done anything wrong otherwise he would have been investigated

I've got dozens i could pick out, just that bishopbriggs is a classic and not only shows it during the race but also with all the other connections and involvements of others.I watch the replays of every meetying 3/4 times to catch these its the only way you'll ever spot them.

A lot of work but I'd imagine knowing the ins and outs of connections is the key.

Amazing how many times the next run is the run you expect them to run well and more often than not it turns out right.Although even if it wasn't you know the prices are going to get bigger unless you've misjudged them as non triers or dodgepots.Sometimes everyone spots them and you're half hoping they get beat for next time, even if you've backed them.

Anyone who doubts the seedy nature of the Newmarket training scene, should take a close look at the recent sales history of Noel Quinlan's debut runner. It makes intriguing reading.

Claimed by George Prodromou for 5k in November last year but sold back to Quinlan for a monkey two months later?

Bingo - and the seller wasn't even Prodromou; it was Eventmaker Racehorses, under which name most of Phil McEntee's horses run. There's a ban on horses returning to their former yards after being claimed (for 6 months I think), but this was allowed, because the Quinlan brothers simply swapped the forename on the licence.
