Highlighting Bad Rides to BHA

Fair point Trefflich; that's twice in a row this horse has had something of an "easy", and while there may well be a valid reason why he needs to be ridden as he has been, the fact that connections haven't been asked for such an explanation is a dereliction of duty by the stewards. It seems if a well backed horse wins, the gormless racecourse stewards/stipes automatically think everything must be ok.

You couldn't really miss steel cuts run lto worth watching for a laugh!!
Dave evans must be making millions!!

I fail to see how this is an occupational hazard? Horse wasn't put in the race, wouldn't have beaten the winner yesterday anyway but I'd like to have gotten a fair run for my money.

As a rule, bent rides are much more prevalent in 'lower-order' races. If you are going to bet in such events, then you should consider it an occupational hazard, imo - even if it isn't your occupation.

Bad rides are probably best taken at face value in my opinion. If you want one to lose I reckon it's not that difficult to do so without the jockey riding a noticably bad race. In instances where a jockey rides a noticeably bad race and it is bent, then the jockey has actually ridden an absolute shocker.

The only way to point out genuinely bent rides is through a money trail.

Did anyone see Jimmy Fortune's ride on Art Show in the 2.10 at Kempton today. For someone with a reputation of being one of the strongest in the weighing rooom, he was unrecognisable from what we've seen of him on a number of occasions.

I'm sure there's a very good reason he didn't use his whip on her at all, it would simply have been nice if the stewards had asked him.

If you want to know what's trying and fit just watch the BF markets just before the off... There was some good debate about this a while back when I still looked in TRF. Its uncanny how often the drifters run badly. Not saying it always happens and drifters never win but its never too far wrong.

Horses can drift in the betting for a multitude of reasons, I often back drifters near the off on Betfair myself if I think they're overpriced. There are certain yards that obviously you want to be wary of but drifters win just as much as steamers, their chance all comes down to whatever price they go off, not what price they have been.

Adam Beschizza e.g is a first class young jockey but what was going through his head on Emma's Gift on Sundays beats the hell out of me.

Having backed him for a place I was delighted with the result but at a guess I'd say a few thousand punters were fuming.

Only 6 runners he moved rapidly in to 4th and immediatly finds himself in a pocket so has to take a pull. He has a ton of horse underneath him and 5 wide he's in a good enough position and got plenty time to pull out a yard further and come round the entire field, but decides to sit for another 50 yds then go between horse and the door shuts in his face again.

Then he has a brainwave." I'll take another pull and go round the outside of the field, I'll get a clear passage there DUH!!"

By then of course Nijinsky couldn't have caught the winner.

Certainly could describe the ride as inept but if I wrote to the BHA saying so they would simply think "we agree" and file it in the bin where it belongs, as the jockey has broken no rules.

The horse barely stays 1m2f and the jockey was riding the horse for his Auntie so he was hardly going to be stopping it and I'm one of the biggest critics of jockeys/corruption I know!

There are plenty of dodgy rides on the AW at this time of year but this wasn't one in my opinion.

If anyone does have any serious concerns about a race/ride and has specific information, I'd recommend getting in touch with Race Straight which the BHA integrity team set up. For all the BHA take a kicking over these issues, when I reported a genuine concern, they couldn't have followed it up more thoroughly. Link here: http://www.britishhorseracing.com/rs/index.htm

Watch this race from december 30th 2009 kirby was literally shitting himself 2fs out as he had to take a pull on bishopsbriggs, after this race i had one of my biggest bets at 10s returned 7/2 fav. This is a write up i sent out to a mate of mine.

BISHOPBRIGGS

Interestingly reappeared the other day having not been seen since May and is now in the Quinlan stable.

Previously its four runs this year have been 9/12 11/11 11/12 12/13. All these 4 runs were for J Ryan

Now both those HQ yards have a reputation for having horses that may not actually be trained by the holder.

Travis Block rode the horse in 3 of those 4 runs and they are his only 3 rides for J Ryan stable in last 5 years, strange imo as he a West Isley based jockey yet gets on this HQ horse.

Horse now down as owned by Maurice Kirby and is uncle of the jockey Adam Kirby. Kirby not really a go to jockey for the Quinlans either, just 15 rides last 5 years.

The horse started life for the gambling owner Willie McKay through various trainers and Adam Kirby had an association with that set up and rode this horse a number of times, most notably on its last run under Willie McKays ownership and prior to its move to J Ryan.

So one win off OR65 over 6 furlongs and whilst not a world beater did head up to low 70’s BUT ran the other day off 52.

Also of its 26 previous starts only 4 were over 7f or further.

The other day Kirby was positive from the gate and even though he sat nicely in the box seat at halfway, off a good pace, he purposely kick on at half way to take the lead and leader on, a strange manoeuvre and unnecessary BUT on a horse that may be is better over 6 and has been off for 226 days, then a surely fire way to get it beat. Turning in I think Kirby got worried as he was still in front and whilst he wouldn’t have won the horse didn’t fade rapidly under a less than vigorous ride:lol:

Low and behold, the above horse has reappeared today being trained and owned by a KF Clutterbuck. He has dropped to his latest winning mark of 54 and has been punted from 33's into 3's in a place.....strange to say the least:ninja:

:lol:Same old trick, another four or five runs down the field now,i wonder who really owns it !!!;)
