In the pub quiz in Cardiff the question came up what is HOGS PUDDING of about 30 people only 3 persons had heard of it, what does it consist of, any ideas. ?????.

Its basically the same as haggis except that its made from the innners of pigs rather than cattle.
It's delicious fried.
I have only seen it on sale in the west country and I bring it back with me when I visit Devon or Cornwall. Never really seen it sold elsewhere although that could be because I haven't looked hard enough.
Well worth a try If you get hold of some. What it does for your cholestorol though I am not sure.

Hutchy I agree with you, I live in Devon and I have never seen it anywhere else. Its really popular down here and is extremely tasty. Its shaped like a black pudding and cooked the same way. Delicious.

P.S off the subject but still on food they have run out of seaweed over here its only available on your side of the BRISTOL CHANNEL DIM to make laverbread... HONEST
 
I can get black puddings anywhere Merlin lol.

As for the seaweed thing, can't help you. I am on the south coast. Sorry. Have you tried that lovely bread they eat in Ireland? Yummy.
 
Do you mean soda bread, Dims? Very nice, especially if bought still warm and got home in time to slather it with butter. (Or perhaps you meant ciabaccia?) :D
 
My bruvver saved me a bit (never charged me either) :o and I just cooked it & ate it as part of my tea.... it was o/k but very much on a par with PORK SAUSAGE & LEEK which you can readily buy from most super markets/butchers too.................... :o :rolleyes:

So I'LL just have to cancel my trip to sunny Devon in order to have had some off DIM............... :P
 
DIM its obvious youve had the real MCCOY!!!! :o (see thread on What's The Fastest That You've Never Driven? :D ) but that's the consistency and taste too that they do this side of the severn bridge, or my taste buds are not working correctely B) ................ :rolleyes:
 
Well I have been to the farmers market and bought some real Hogs Pudding which shall be cooked and tasted in due course. Cost about £3 for a whole ring. Excellent value. :D
 
Sounds like an ideal meal: Dog's Dinner followed by Hog's Pudding with Bird's Custard.
