To send private message in this forum is easy. You open up a conversation with another member by clicking their icon, and click "Start conversation".

Here you can start a private conversation with someone and even add others to the same conversation:

Here you can write your text and send. This is a bit different than vBulletin which had an archaic PM system - this is much more robust.

You can also add members at a later time as well:

Please remember to be courteous to your fellow members. No spamming - no harassment. And the "conversations" are private messages. No one, not even admins or moderators, can read these but the recipients. :thumbsup:

Except the ones from a few years ago that have been posted for all to see on here! I remember having a late night chat with Col about private messages a few years ago - Truji may remember as well - as she and Col used to log in about the same as I did to get their late night entertainment - I should have charged them really. Anyway, Col admitted that it would be possible for him to read private messages but it would be too much of a palaver. Senders beware! Or is that be aware?
 
?? If you go to “What’s New” the first section is “Latest Posts” and the the second section is “Profile Posts” which appears to be the latest private message posts? Don’t understand!
 
What a shambles this place is. Good luck to those that put up with it - well, not to all of them - just the good guys :thumbsup:

Just to add to this - we are now running different software which does not allow for anyone to read YOUR messages unless they log in to your account. If there are old PMs posted in this forum that you feel violate our privacy policy (that private messages are private and you need the permission of the sender to post them in public), then please let me know.

Ok - thanks for that. This deserves another thread to describe the Profile Posts function. :thumbsup: - I will try to to that later today.
 
I think I'm going blind or daft one or the other but how do you delete Private messages now ? I used to select messages then go to the select action drop down bar and it had a delete option which is no longer there.

I'm also yet to figure out how to reach or post members blogs as it doesn't appear in any of the main sub threads.
 
O.k so the PM's / Dms thing I've figured out myself and just for those who can't figure out how to clear their inboxes any more open the message click leave at the top right hand corner and it seems to delete them. Just found it in time as my inbox has been heaving since putting up my profile pic with plenty of young maidens date requests........said the liar ;)


I will find the blog function if it kills me.
 
It’s a tortuous route to the blogs, Danny. Go to Members and find Yorick, then his postings, scroll down a bit and find an entry under members blogs, click members blogs and lo and behold you’re there! Once there bookmark the page to get there again without the mucking about.
 
Barjon you're a gentleman and a squire also that is ridiculous could one of the mods sort something out ? Or is the guy who does all the site stuff now the lad with Cancer ? Obvs if so don't bother him like.
 
I found my old blog the other day by typing key words in the search box.

So I remembered one of my more successful blog posts. '2019 Arc discussion thread'.

Typed it in and was able to find all the other stuff or guff perhaps.
 
Strange using the word 'leave' for 'delete'.

In that case if you click on the check box next to 'participants' it will open an action bar at the bottom of the page which also has the 'leave' function/option/action.
 
I think it'd be something to do with what it says at the top where they changed PM's to start a conversation (i presumed they changed it back) but you would leave chat/conversation i suppose.
