This topic is devoted to the things we miss most about Krizon. Persoannly I feel her absence from the topic Merlin started over the road.

Mallorca apparently. There were a few coded references for some reason but we finally got the truth.

Paul, I'm definitely not one for leaving coded messages. I understand that the lovely Krizon is having a much deserved holiday in Majorca.

I miss her too :(

!Hola!

Stayed with a lifelong friend of Songsheet's in her apartment with a fabulous view directly across rocks onto the sea at Calla Mayor. The King of Spain's holiday palace was just to the left of us (this is mentioned for positioning, not because he invited us in for tea) - the little bay looked a lot like a mini-Amalfi, Brian, with bougainevillea, hibiscus and oleander in profusion along craggy promontories.

The other rocks we viewed directly were in a sea of gin and tonic - crikey, I'd forgotten the monster sploshes you get! :blink: I recalled - eventually - where Mommie Dearest and I holidayed there, then was rather shocked to realize it was nearly 20 years ago - no wonder everywhere didn't look quite familiar (Hotel Bellver, in case anyone else has stayed there - overlooking the Marina).

My holiday chumette drove a new, rented Yaris (AC - they're grand inside and scoot along well enough, but what a weeny-teeny boot!) and showed me Andraxt and Villamosas (oops - forgotten the spelling). We ate netfuls of squid, which I adore, and thanks to the very healthy diet, plenty of salads, fresh fish, etc., I've put on even more weight. :shy:

Probably won't go on hols for another 20 years now, so you're stuck with me wittering on into senility. No - wittering on further into, etc., etc. ...

Gracias for those kind words, folks! You're right, AC, I made that up. I didn't think it'd look too good to say I'd bogged off with a 23 year-old Spanish waiter from Brighton's Los Dos Gatos Nighterie I'd only known for three hours...

As a test of the forums effectiveness, and using your skill and judgement of peoples postings can you tell us whats happened while you've been away ? :lol:

Ah, the old Spanish spirit measures - impressive aren't they Aunty?! Easiest way to piss off a Spanish barman? Ask for a double....

(and if you are in La Bar Traviata in Puerto Duquesa, make sure you don't let Bert pour you a drink - he stops pouring the spirit in the glass just in time to squeeze 10 mls of mixer on top.....)

Perhaps you could get a mod to change the title for you, An to something along the lines of:

"I miss Krizon, I really don't!" :blink:

"Oh, yes, he does!" :D

Uncle Goober: hmmm... you mean what's been happening on the forum, rather than in the world at large, do you? Let's see. I have not been disappointed to find:

Brian championing facts over fantasy (for the 3,457th time - although I might've let one or two slip by me);

Merlin causing angst and disarray (for the 3,457th time - although, etc., etc.);

Warbler using 3,457 words where 200 would do;

Clivex expounding on the evils of religion, the lack of belief, the Left, the Right, the Middle Way, bigotry, liberalism, anything in between and to the far extremes of all and anything;

Kathy being told for the 3,457th time that she's wrong;

Tout Seul having a right touch and paying for the forum's Christmas outing;

An Capall pretending he doesn't miss me when I'm gone (stop it, you mad fool - everyone knows you adore me);

Shadow Leader having a few drinks to celebrate BALLY CONN's win (which I'm sorry to have missed watching - both SL having a 'few' drinks, and the win)... ;)

At least five additions to the Arse Cup and several apoplectic 'what a plonker' jibes at sundry jockeys...

Did I miss anything? :brows:

Yeah Right! Like there is one of those about.
Oi!

Mu is a complete star bird, as anyone on the forum who has been fortunate enough to have met her will confirm. Her parents (who were a generation older than mine) lived next to my parents during the end of WWII and Muriel was about ten years younger than my mother, so it was a bit like an extended family.

I was born long after they'd all moved and it used to be the family 'wind up' to me to say "Ah, that happened at Hampton before you were even thought of". I was obviously just as easily riled then as now!

Mu and I were the only ones who were mad about horses and so always have had plenty of common ground andsince my mother died several years ago, she has definitely been the next best thing !

She's 76 going on 46 and I've never come across anyone who doesn't adore her!

Her smuggling of Krizon into Royal Ascot as her companion will never be forgotten ! Is she still chasing horses round a field at her new home and showing no respect for speed cameras?

She's still got Oscar, the huge semi-draft, who had a visit from the dentist the day before we got back, and after 1.5 hours' worth of attention, all donations will be gratefully received!

She still gets up at 5.00 a.m. (thankfully, not on holiday!) to attend to him, and walked considerably faster than me in spite of being over a decade older and having a 'new' knee. She takes her whippet Millie for extended walks at impressive sectional times, too. We had a great time, loads of laughs and lots of good conversation. Her Spanish is fantastically fluent, as she spent 30 years on Majorca (or Mallorca, for purists), running her own business. She arranged the flights, the car rental, and knew all the nicest places to eat. And while I'm not advertising for her, the apartment is available to rent throughout the year - I was very lucky to be invited to stay in it, and it has one of the most delightful views, with the sea literally lapping rocks only yards away, that I've experienced.
