Looks a good renewal this year. Traditionally suited to an improving horse with a low weight (last 9 winners all carried 10-13 or less) but for me there is nothing lurking down there this year. Claret Cloak finally looks like getting his ground this season & think he is massivley unexposed, 14-1 is a cracking each way price

theyve all been stuffed recently! this is taken from her website, usual trainer talk;

"There is no doubt that this season will come under the title 'Character Building'! I think a mixture of very soft ground and some of the horses not firing on all cylinders has contributed to what has, at this stage, been a very mixed season. I am delighted that it has now stopped raining, but if there's any chance of someone turning the heating on upstairs I'd be truly delighted! Just looking at the horses, they certainly do look like they are turning a corner and starting to look better, which will be hopefully just in time for a successful Cheltenham."

Mr Mole is most likely better in at the weights than he looks at first glance and could easily swoosh up but the price reflects that.

BG was pretty keen on the chances of General Miller on his return. There was a lot to like about the way he quickened up and put himself right back into contention after losing a lot of ground around halfway. Once beaten he just came home in his own time but this looks like it has been the plan for him all along. He'll obviously be a lot fitter now and the ground will be much more to his liking.

Le Bacardy looks the type to improve and could be worth an ew interest at a decent price.

I've already backed GM and will be looking to back La bacardy on the day ew on the machine.

Barizan - First Avenue & Home Run - all e/way for me and all look well in on my figures with Barizan and Home Run on the form of beating Sametegal L/T/O allowing 9lb reduction for WFA and Meginisi has already franked that form
.
First Avenue is a horse waiting to happen imo - jockey a slight cause for concern but does claim 10lb.

Have already backed them and hoping pricewise picks at least one of them :D

At the prices I will have a hopeful punt on Claret Cloak for Emma Lavelle. Should be on the premises, and if this fella wins...we'll be on the pigs back for the festival:lol:

Wasnt Claret Cloak tipped up on here before for different races?
Rory?

Anyone remember the scoop 6 person going for the bonus in the Racing Post Chase won by Gloria Victis?
He called Martin Pipe for a tip and was told something like: with Richard Johnson on he has an excellent chance but if he had AP up he would be a cert!!

If there was that much between the best 2....
How about Tom?:ninja:

Rory tipped up Claret Cloak for the Ladbroke either before the horse was born or before he had even seen a racecourse...........no idea how he knew the horse was going to be decent but rumour has it he's the horses real father

All depends on how good Mr Mole is I suspect .

Must have been showing plenty at home. A month ago, PN was saying "We´ll not rush him into any big targets", yet here he is in this, and with a County Hurdle entry.
According to AP's booked mounts, he must fancy him, too.

12 pound rise in the weights to 138 for winning a 6k novice handicap hurdle at Taunton looks harsh to me though, Reet.

Mind you, Nicholls has had plenty of horses appearing in big handicaps with tidy marks, and this is probably the natural outcome in terms of things evening themselves out.

I'm not saying he can't win, but Mr Mole will have to be very much on an upward curve to beat a horse who looks so well handicapped in Kazlian..

Well he did despatch Melodic Rendezvous first time out this season and there was no sign of him hanging as he had before when he hacked up at Taunton

Is that a true story? Would love to think it was.

There was a phase when Scoop6 winners chasing the bonus would not commit to any selection on TV in the morning. By the afternoon they would often have found the winner. I suspected at the time C4 were ensuring they got access to the right trainers and were being steered in a certain direction.

I don't remember the Martin Pipe quote but I do remember thinking GV couldn't possibly win that day off that weight yet the punter did state he'd had a word with Pipe and was convinced he would win.

I miss Martin Pipe. I loved watching him on racedays, organising everyone around him, making sure connections were looked after and given prominence for the TV and photographers if their horse won. I think he still does it in the background.

Surely the line through melodic rendezvous and that horses obvious subsequent credentials and rating makes mr mole a cracking bet? I'm usually adverse to short priced relatively unexposed horses in races like this but not this time

Both Dan Skelton (The Morning Line) and Barry Geraghty (ATR blog) seem to think Mr Mole's the real deal, too.:)
