The Tony Martin-trained Saddlers Storm has been installed as Ladbrokes 7-1 favourite for the 139th running of the race.
A winner at Navan this month, Saddlers Storm has been allotted a handy 9st 11lb for Ireland's richest jumps prize, won last year by Niche Market.
Poker De Sivola, Ballabriggs and A New Story, all of whom won at the Cheltenham Festival, are among the 86 for the race, with the Ferdy Murphy-trained Poker De Sivola the shortest of the three at 10-1.
Poker De Sivola, who won the National Hunt Chase under Katie Walsh at Cheltenham, is set to carry 10st 7lb. His trainer was successful in the race with Granit D'Estruval in 2004.
Ballabriggs, winner of the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Chase, is on 10st 3lb, while A New Story, winner of the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, is on 10st. Last year’s runner-up Church Island has been allotted a weight of 10st 12lb.
The weights for the 3m5f chase are headed by the Jim Dreaper-trained 16-1 shot Notre Pere and The Tother One, trained by Paul Nicholls, on 11st 10lb with a rating of 155.

I really like the look of Quiscover Fontaine in this if he gets the trip. Ran a nice race in the Arkle and has been campaigned over short trips over hurdles and fences. Step up in trip to three miles should not be a problem although 3m 5f might be. Also like The Midnight Club who ran a fine race in the Jewson after being hampered four or five out, he stayed on really well and I think Townend wishes he took the whip out a little earlier with him.

Could anyone supply the weights stats for the past few years, please? I like what Bobbyjo's got, plus A NEW STORY and also SNOWY MORNING, but I don't know how the higher weights have held up statistically. I'm getting a new telephone a/c which takes tiny, little old lady bets, so I'll have a bash at this.

Fifty one left in at the four day stage, Aran Concerto and Siegemaster are the top weights left in.

The Midnight Club who was well fancied after his good run at Cheltenham is one of those to have been taken out.

Saddlers Storm is potentially thrown in at the weights. He looked a dour stayer to me at the start of the year but did it nicely last time out . I am not a big fan of Tony Martin but he could have a serious plot horse here.I wouldn't be surprised if he started at a ridiculously short price.

Will have a look at this later but you'll need a low weight who can stay 4 miles I think, judging by today.

No reason a big weight cant win this provided they handle conditions. Siegemaster has won in Thurles on bottomless ground and I think he will go close tomorrow.

The best advice with any racing on heavy ground is to keep your money in your pocket but if forced to make a selection I would go with Hangover. Isn't as consistent as his form figures indicate but has a decent chance based on his run behind Whinstone Boy. Plenty of money for Telenor but I would be a little concerned that he has done all his winning at Navan.

it's easier to make money when the ground is soft/heavy - easy to eliminate more horses.
