Irish Guineas Weekend

That's a pity Colin. HQ will be a layers price. I've taken the 6/1 Parish Hall in sterling and win only.

Surely Hermival should be favourite for this. Arguably was inconvenienced by where he was racing in the Guineas and probably would have been closer to the principals if he had been drawn by them. Sometimes easier not to complicate things and just go with the obvious.

I agree, he's open to plenty of improvement and good ground shouldn't inconvenience him but I think Trumpet Major will win....if we get the good ground expected.

Hermival is to be respected but Parish Hall is the bleedin' obvious bet at the prices.

He was arguably at an advantage if the ground was faster on the far side.

A highly uninspiring renewal of the Irish 2000 Guineas.

There are a host of big owners who probably don't have the ammunition under the saddle to carry the reputation the colors perceive.

9/2 Parish Hall now best. Jim Bolger's omments in the Racing Post were very bullish. Is he trying to sell the horse before the Derby?!

Very poor entries for the Tattersalls Gold Cup , basically Famous Name against whatever Ballydoyle run, their choice includes So You Think, St Nicholas Abbey, Await the Dawn or Treasure Beach.

@DarleyStallions: Jim Bolger on #Teofilo’s Classic contender and G1w Parish Hall in today’s @Racing_Post: “as good a colt as I’ve had”. #praiseindeed

Unfortunantly it's become a Group 1 benefit for Ballydoyle. It must be u
Likely SNA runs so probably So You Think will run.

Just had a look at the rest of the card - Irish Racing what a bore!!

To think I was going over to Ireland this summer and would have had to sit through some of these drab meetings with a fake smile.

Races 2, 3, 4 and 5 on Saturday are my favourite sequence of races on the Irish calendar. Each to their own.

It's all Hall as punters make Parish preference

A HITHERTO confused market for Saturday's Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas took on a considerably more opinionated look on Tuesday when punters backed Jim Bolger's Investec Derby aspirant Parish Hall into clear favouritism.

Bolger's audacious plan to claim Classics with the same colt on consecutive weekends will face its first test at the Curragh, where Dubai Dewhurst Stakes winner Parish Hall looks likely to start favourite after being supported into as short as 7-2 from a morning high of 6-1.

Boylesports and Bet365 both go a now best-priced 9-2 from 6-1 about Parish Hall, whose chief market rival, Qipco 2,000 Guineas third Hermival, can still be backed at 6-1 with Coral.

Hermival's trainer Mikel Delzangles told At The Races: "It was a very good run at Newmarket. It was only his third start and he did very well.

"He's definitely going to travel. He did his last piece of work on Monday and everything went well."

Bookmakers on Tuesday also offered their first prices for the Abu Dhabi Irish 1,000 Guineas, for which Newmarket Guineas winner Homecoming Queen is a rock-solid favourite.

Paddy Power arguably erred by offering 6-4 in their first list but as other firms issued much shorter prices Paddy Power sought to fall more in line and now go 5-4 about the nine-length Qipco 1,000 Guineas winner, who is odds-on at 4-5 with Ladbrokes.
