Irish syndicate opportunity

Can I ask about the significance of the forum majority? I can understand that for a smaller syndicate where you want to have some element of control where there are others coming in that you don't know. But the club format of this opportunity means that the usual democratic process I pride myself on will not be possible. Rather Colm will be making the call on training and racing and ultimately if she stays in training or not, depending on how good or not she is. So not sure why the forum majority is an condition precedent?

It's simple for me I know that there is no guarantee of a return on my money therefore I need to get entertainment value from the syndicate. I'd be certain to get entertainment value if it was mainly a TH horse. It's nothing to do with telling Colm how to train the horse.... I can air my thoughts in letters, email, texts, tweets, Facebook and stalking him on a daily basis.

I'm interested, but just to clarify, as you mention it's more of a club & with more members than usual, so is it a straightforward punt of the fees against the prize money won for the members or will names, colours etc all still apply?

I wouldn't view it that way myself. The idea is to give people the opportunity to get most of the benefits of being in a smaller syndicate at a fraction of the cost. I would never look at it as fees in and prizemoney out. She is already named For An Angel and colours will be pre-determined. The objective is to have a few days out where members can mix and enjoy the benfits of horse ownership without all of the costs.

So the objective is to have, say, ten members of TH involved rather than have 50%+ of the club?

I'm pleasantly surprised by the interest as I wasn't sure how it would work. I've been busy on email too and the response has been positive.

Exactly.

There would be more winners on the Christmas Card - if the club is mostly going to be made up of the reprobates above I'd have to join.

I'm amazed myself how many members are interested. Once everyone is clear it's a fun investment from the outset we'll be able to make it work. Having said that Cantoris will have to throw us a few bones every now and again if it's a profitable syndicate. i.e Krystals guest list :D

I'll go on the list too.

I have to say it would be easier to guide a box of frogs around an art gallery than bring this lot to the races, so you'll be earning your commission, Oran

He will pay pay pay for his fee. It's a recession after all :D

I think the other part is that we've made the investment in her already as Colm has been training her since mid March so by the time September comes around she will have done all the basics once, be back in training a month and should be heading for the track before the end of the year. By Spring you will know if you are going to keep on with her or send her home. So really its a 9 month horizon. Grey is involved in the other mare and they are different types. The Saddlers Hall is all speed, whereas the Turtle Island is all about stamina. So hopefully she can win one of those soft 2m4f mares maiden hurdles. We'll know our fate fairly quickly. If anyone wants to see her, we have a stable visit planned on Sat 21 July. We will be focused mainly on the new purchase but the mare will be out in the field. Alternatively, next trip will be in late August and she will be back in training 3 weeks then.

Any chance of getting her picture put up Cantoris? Just to add to the fun:whistle:
