Is Aidan O'Brien returning to NH

When exactly did he get injured? He won around 8 chases in a row at one stage and despite people calling them tin pot races it was a fair achuevment. Was he favourite for the Gold Cup after the Charlie Hall?

He got injured at Gowran Park schooling a couple of weeks after the Theyestes meeting....spooked by a camera at a fence...he was in full tilt preparation for the Gold Cup...don't think he was fav or close to it though. IMHO he was never GC class but wasn't a million miles off. There were big pots to be won with him.

The same connections had Table Rock who won four or five novice chases in a row and ran a blinder under almost top-weight in a Troytown going for six in a row. Got injured in the race. He was a front runner who would go 30 lengths clear and take fences out by the roots. Aidan O'Brien won a bumper by a distance on him when he was trained by Jim Bolger. They paid monstrous money for him at the time. Like Del Boys hell raising, however, it was never going to turn out for the best.

Found it:

Sackville was made 5-1 joint favourite for the Gold Cup by Paddy Power, though William Hill quote him at 8-1 and the Tote 10-1.

That was after he won the Charlie Hall.

Finnegans Hollow was st..sorry, ridden by Conor O'Dwyer in the Deloitte at Leop in 97. Isty went on to make history. Finnegans went somewhere else.

Yes he went the 'wrong way' as they say after the supreme, he really creased himself. Reckon he ran to about 140 against the braq.

I've never seen him run but I remember reading the book on Istabraq and when he got beat the pressure on Istabraq winning was intense.

Did Noble Thyne not beat Isty at Punchestown? Noble Thyne was a serious horse. I think he beat a decent field in the Champion bumpion at Punchestown the season before. Needed deep ground but also had a wind problem. Two things that don't go together. Pity. He went downhill badly after beating Isty.

Gary O'Brien told us on ATR that Shield is going to Cheltenham and Joseph will ride.
