I hadn't actually planned to watch the concert BUT as I am going to be around from late morning onwards at home I may well watch some of it. It will be good to see some of the bands from my era, and I did enjoy watching the Live Aid concerts all those years ago - from my pram! B)

Have any of you planned to watch it?

I have tickets and I shall be there :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm very excited about seeing Annie Lennox, Keane and Snow Patrol :D

its my only certainty of the day  .............not to watch it....I control the remote control in this house and its a no no .................

Hope you enjoy it GRIFFIN.....................

I don't fancy it at all.

Last time round it was sh*te until Queen came on and Freddy stole the show. Can't see any likely contenders tomorrow.

if Queen were on in their original format they would have sold double the amount of tickets ..................and yes I would have tuned in too.............
The tickets were not sold, they were given away in a text lottery. Basically you answered a very easy question and sent a text with the answer. They cost £1.50 each time, and I sent seven, so you could say that my pair of tickets cost me £10.50. There were approximately 150k thousand tickets, and millions applied for them.

I still remember watching Queen on the original Live Aid. I was a mere seven years old and loved every second of the concert on telly :)

What's going to happen to all the money that was raised, then, Griffin, if it isn't meant to be a fund-raising event, and the bands are playing gratis?

Even if the bands play for nothing, there will still be a good deal of expense involved in running the events - security, equipment, payments to venues (possibly), etc.

I expect that any left over goes to Africa.

Dire Straits were extremely good at Live Aid. According to Geldof, nobody wanted to perform before them in fear of not being remembered, such was the anticipation of Knopfler and co's performance.

Quite amazingly, Dire Straits were in the middle of their Brothers In Arms world tour and were playing Wembley Arena the same night of Live Aid. They had to stop their own soundcheck and run with guitars in hand over to the stadium (granted, it's not very far) to do their Live Aid set (Money for Nothing featuring Sting, followed by Sultans of Swing).

Queen are remembered for stealing the show, but Dire Straits (who finshed their set 15 mins before Queen took the stage) were the band who woke Wembley up.

You have stirred a few memories Phil. I will make sure I watch at least a few hours tomorrow now and tape a few more to watch on Sunday. B)

Will watch it all, Pink Floyd the star attraction for me.

Look out for someone in the crowd wearing a red hat with pink flowers :D ;)

You have to applaud Roger Waters for re-joining PF for this.

What are the odds on a "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" opener...

Afraid not - all the available tickets went. There were two million unhappy applicants who didn't get any. Also, as Griffin has pointed out, they weren't for sale, they were free.

And yes, it was announced that any excess funds gathered would go to charities dealing directly with Africa.

Well DG a red hat with pink flowers is probably an improvement of that one you wearing on the forum picture thread :D

I never ever ever wear hats as they all look silly on me, but I've bought the one that looked least ridiculous. I'll send the red and pink abomination to DG once it's done it's job tomorrow

Pink Floyd's setlist is - "Money", "Comfortably Numb" and "Wish You Were Here"

My brother is going and it has to be said that it has to be worth seeing just for Pink Floyd alone. Far and away the best act playing.

That's sacrilege, Griffin!!!! :o :o :o

The Wall is simply the best album that was ever produced (in my eyes, at least!)!! You know, We don't need no education, We don't need no thought control.... - fantastic stuff!
