That's sacrilege, Griffin!!!! :o :o :o

The Wall is simply the best album that was ever produced (in my eyes, at least!)!! You know, We don't need no education, We don't need no thought control.... - fantastic stuff!
Oooo I fink I recall bits of that song  I was brought up being forced to listen to my mums Rod Stewart and Abba collection, nobody listened to Pink Floyd in my house

Abba - great singles, awful albums.
Yes and as a child I got all the words wrong too. Unfortunately the words I learnt are the words now stuck in my head. I was driving back from the school run listening to Radio 2 this week singing along to 'Chicken Tikka'

"Oi! Teachah! Leave that kid alone!"... a wonderful song, especially in that it managed to predict so, so much!

"All in all, it's just another
Brick in the wawwwl..." I shall bawwwl along with them.

Oooooooo ooooooooooo oooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooo am now in danger of hyperventilating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've just read on the BBC website that George Michael is going to be there!!!!!!!!!!!!! oooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooo :o

Absolutely fantastic album it is - I have treated the people of Eurotowers to renditions of it many a time after the vodka is flowing....

Gives me an idea of what to do after work tonight Brian - cheers!! :D

Once my television has been fixed (it blew up weeks ago) I'll also be able to watch the DVD of the original film "The Wall" (starring Bob Geldof as Pink) that I bought the day the TV blew - rendition time again!!! :D

It was hinted in The Daily Mail that George Michael would put in an appearance at Live8 in yesterdays paper. He is evidently a bit of a recluse, has grown a beard and put on a few lb's but I bet he can still sing a good song!

I must admit they were crap, although I did like the "Don't let the sun go down on me" or whatever that one was actually called....

He was far better (in my opinion) as a solo artist or when he did a duet with Sir Elton.

I see that there is to be an alcohol ban at the concert - except in the "corporate" areas where Geldof's wealthy chums will be able to drink as much as they like.

What's that all about - smells a bit "Animal Farm-y" to me.

Why are the costs of staging the event running into 7 figures, it's only a bloody concert for fuxake? More snouts in the trough?

How is Geldof's ego trip going to:

a. Reduce tariff barriers and open up markets for African countries to compete in?

b. Rid Africa of its corrupt rulers and governments?

Venusian, you shouldn't underestimate the costs of hiring all the a-v equipment and the labour to erect it, the health and safety and security, the payment to the police and many other items - at so many sites too.

Maybe there are extra costs for a big event like this, compared to a concert in a village hall somewhere, but won't they be getting a hefty discount on usual rates, or even getting some things free?

After all, it's supposed to be for charity.

I thought dark side of the moon was the best pink floyd has ever produced.

No, im not gonna bother watching it. havent got much time for middle of road British music these days....Keane is a prime example...not much time for coldplay as well and surprise surprise U2 is there, maybe i only like bands who are not as main stream and popular, if Kings Of Leon and Jeff Buckley were playing...i would queue overnight.

Many Plcs give donations to charity and declare it in their accounts. I can't think of an organisation that could afford to supply all the equipment and skilled labour for just the Hyde Park event free of charge!

And can you imagine the political uproar if the police were to not be paid for their services? And what would Wigan FC say about that?

Why would there be an uproar if the police were to offer to work for half pay, or nothing, in order to support the event?

What has Wigan FC got to do with it?

I'm off to bed now. I need to get up at 5am to be ready in time to drive to Bletchley where I'm picking up my mummy and our train leaves at 7.23am. I've got packed three small bottles of water, some black jacks and some mint imperials  Not much sustainance there  And of course my trusty red floral hat ;)

See you all on Sunday...........hopefully

I am making a book on how many times Brian Hartigan has said the following in his life.

Venusian, you shouldn't underestimate the costs of hiring all the equipment and the labour to erect it

0-100 66/1
100-1000 25/1
1000-9000 7/1
9000+ 1/12

Why would there be an uproar if the police were to offer to work for half pay, or nothing, in order to support the event?

There wouldn't if they did - but how many policemen do you know?

What has Wigan FC got to do with it?

They feel that they have been hard done by - and I think that they have a point:
Wigan's old bill

The Hyde park show seems reasonable, but i`ve seen the line-up for Philadelphia - Bon Jovi and Linkin Park are playing. I try not to be cynical about such events but i`m sorry the vast majority of acts are corporate whores who would do anything to get their mugs and the shite they masquerade as music on tv. I`d pay a lot of money to see Jon Bon Jovi tortured.

Seeing as it is the slowest day at work that I can remember in a long while, I have robbed the key for the room with the satellite decoders and put BBC2 on so I can at least have some music to accompany the boredom!

In the short time they have had to organise this extravaganza, I think they have done an absolutely amzaing job. What difference this concert will make to poverty in Africa, we will not know for a while (if ever) BUT at least it has brought the subject to the attention of many hundreds of thousands of people who may never have ever given this a second thought.

I do think Sir Bob has a big ego, but credit where credit is due, at least he is trying to do something about poverty in the only way he knows how - being loud and brash. Many artists are giving their time for free and many of these are probably only doing it to get their latest record/album sold. Who cares, it is for a good reason, and hopefully should be a blooming good concert too.

I will be watching it.... well, most of it anyway.
