Good on you for reporting it Kathy . Far too many people take this sort of thing lying down becuse they think the police won't act .

The police were excellent in this case but the CPS couldn't take it to court as the word "onion" is not deemed racist enough, which is probably why the chap used it in the first place.

To be honest, I am glad it is going no further, as I really didn't want it to go to court. I just wanted the neighbour to be warned off and to make him think twice beofre doing it again, and I wanted be able to sell my house. The neighbour had a visit from the police and was forced to give a statement and his house is now on the market. I sold my house successfully to the "onions" although I had to let them know about him next door as I thought it was only fair.

By the way, the neighbour in question's football team (his employer's) have been relegated this season. I saw him on the TV looking absolutely crest fallen. I am a great believer in what goes around, comes around.......

... but preferably what should have come around was a posse of Britain's best yardies, armed with a little of that olde worlde Jamaican charm. :( "Ya no feelin irie now, be tellin it true, man?"

"Not such a big man now, are you?" accompanied by appropriate remedial treatment. (Ref: Collins Dictionary, English - Yardish, 2005)

Jeez, and I thought I was the pedant on here! "You are not feeling all right now, tell the truth, my good man" - said in Harrovian accents by two chappies in tweed suits.

You need to back FEELING ALL RIGHT next time it's out, Martin.
