Jockey News

On the subject of Jockeys, does anyone have an opinion about JJ Slevin
He now seems to be riding Simon Munir & Isaac Souede horses ( Double Green )
How do you rate him as a jockey ?
Very energetic jockey -more than capable of winning a Grade 1.I would describe him as very Good but not elite.
He is a cousin of Aidan O' Brien.

Best remembered for his soft unseat on Fastorslow in the 2024 Gold Cup.

‘Was on the heels of the leaders when he unshipped his rider seven from home after what looked a fairly innocuous mistake.’

Happened to catch the RP site item about Maureen Haggas's strong comments regarding the ride Lake Forest got last week down under.

I watched the replay and totally understand her anger.

Then again, we see rides like it every day in this country and the stewards do nothing. It's hard to get away from the opinion that the jockey might been given plenty of encouragement to ensure the horse wasn't involved in the finish.

It’s refreshing to hear connections be honest. Willie Mullins has often criticised jockeys in his own restrained way — as he should.

I would have been fuming too. Long way to travel a horse to get a shit ride as well as if the owners had made the trip.

I took a horse up to Musselburgh once from Oxfordshire - a long way in a small horse box. The horse was running in the Edinburgh Gold Cup and I said to the jockey "bring him up the outside as he gets claustrophobic." But he completely ignored me and tried to squeeze up the rail where the horse did not handle the congestion. He was a close fourth and should have won. The owners were furious as they had flown up especially after the runt stood in the unsaddling enclosure afterwards and said "I think if I'd brought him wide, I would have won!"
