Breathtaking actor. Wore the VHS of Champions to shreds when I was a child and was completely stunned by his performance in Nineteen Eighty-Four
I'm not one for fawning over dead celebs and I'm not going to start here but it's right to take a moment to reflect on the man's immense talent, output and philosophy.

Patron of our local cinema and was always very supportive of it. We were told many years ago that they wanted to make Champions a much more hard hitting film, but softened it for the American audience. How true that is, I don't know, but it would have been interesting to see how Hurt would have played it. Saw him in 'Jackie' the other day and was hoping that his treatment was working. I'd actually forgotten how many great films he'd made.
