King George VI Chase

See a few on twitter saying the same granger, but not sure I understand why?
Tizzards still have Cue Card and the Million bonus to aim at - Is it that Coneygree won't be there to set a pace which makes the race easier for Thistlecrack to dip his toe in senior company?
tizzard has said it's up to the owners. they may be more tempted now but still think he goes feltham instead.

different owners, race more winnable

Tea For two is the one no one has mentioned. This fella goes on any ground, is 3/3 at Kempton, and will give Lizzie Kelly a great spin round. He has plenty to find on official ratings, but is entitled to improve, imho.

with the likely small field and plenty toward the head of the current market not likely to run there's definitely still some e/w value out there with 3 places available

6 Confirmed runners you mean? This doesn't surprise me, the race is lacking in quality opposition to Cue Card.
Euro has talked about Tea For Two on other threads, I wonder what he thinks about 10/1 as an each way bet, because with or without Thistle, I cannot see Tea For two out the places.

Unless there is actually less than 8 runners on the day which would scupper my thinking about Tea For Two a bit, (if Thistle gets declared).

back it now then, antepost rules apply and you get 3 places no matter the number of runners

Will do. Cheers James, I had no idea I'd get three places if I back anti-post.

10/1 with Ladbrokes but only 1/5 the odds 3 places
Best price 8/1 with bookies offering 1/4 the odds 3 places

10/1 is still decent. Is there still a supplementary option for something like Josses Hill who would have no chance but might keep Tea's price honest?

Not true -bookmakers can and occasionally do make up their own ante post terms.
not if they are in any way reputable. the terms offered at the time of the bet should not be changed if betting antepost. i've certainly never had that happen to me personally.

I'm glad this has come up regarding ante post place rules as I must admit it's one I'm not certain on.
Like Marble, this was something I was unaware of until last year when on here we were discussing a festival race that we expected to cut up.
I can't exactly recall which race now, but I'm pretty certain I did not get the 3 places for my Antepost bet on the day when there was less than 8 runners.Historically I always worked off the rationale of a 'day of race' market when there are originally 8+ runners, and there are then defections and it ends up less than 8 runners, I only get 2 places. I assumed Ante Post was the same. Would each Bookie have specific rules on their site for each individual race Luke?

I've seen bookies go 2 places ante post when more than 8 possible runners are left in if they're fairly sure there will be less than 8 on the day. An example of this was this years Tingle Creek. My advice would be always to check place terms before pressing the button or handing over your cash. I doubt any will publish general rules but even if they do they'll always reserve the right to change these.
Day of race rules don't usually apply to AP bets and I can recall an occasion when I backed one each way 3 places and there ended up being 4 runners! Obviously mine was last of the 4 [emoji35]

It Is possible to actually get worse terms ante post as opposed to day of race market.Powers in particular are very cautious about their terms on the big Saturday races during the week.

Yes -a friend of mine was stung for several hundred by a major bookmaker in a dispute over each way terms-I suspect it was because he was a big each way punter and that breed aren't tolerated these days.

Reading through the lines "I'll talk to Colin sometime" I reckon Thistlecrack will be an absentee but Josses Hill is an interesting late entry. He'll love the gallop and the track but if he hit's one of those Kempton fences "Ouch!!" Definitely has the toe for the race and there isn't much opposition so good choice by Nicky. Does look a piece of cake fr Cue Card now and Tizzard would be nuts to run Thistlecrack...might end up getting his head in his hands lol

Reading between what lines??? Read the actual lines.

"The burning question about whether Colin Tizzard's celebrities would clash in the King George VI Chase was answered on Sunday when John Snook, who owns Thistlecrack with wife Heather, said: "It's definitely the King George for Thistlecrack – it's always been my intention to go that way provided the horse has been coping with jumping fences and we think he has."
