With the 2 French horse's now intended runners the race has a more competitive look to it.
Add to those Spillane's Tower looks very likely to get the soft ground his trainer said he needs for him to supplement him. The ground is g/s with rain forecast all week.
This would bring five horses into the betting between 3/1 to 5/1.
France's best chance seems to lie with Il Est Francsis but he might not get the easy lead he got last year as this is obviosle much tougher. The fav Grey Dawning will likely go close but I just prefer Banbridge.

A winner over 2m4f at Kempton before he is now touching 9 years old and this 3 miles might just be ideal for him

Bainbridge certainly wouldn't want any "forecast " rain.
The Est Francais that turned up last Boxing day, would take some beating. Couldn't back him though, with those 2 non shows lately.

Ruby Walsh was explaining last night that with Holyhead closed at the moment any Irish horses going to Kempton will have to use the often rougher sea crossing from Rosslare. They will have to leave on the 23rd and would not get back to their stable until the 27th or 28th.

For Spillane’s Tower an additional obstacle is the £4,600 supplementary entry fee. He can go to Leopardstown and be back in his box all in the same day, without paying staff to travel with him over Christmas and coughing up a big entry fee. If he goes to Kempton it will be a tip in itself.

I'm not so sure about soft ground.

Yes, there is light rain due today, tomorrow and Sunday, but then none until after raceday. Good to soft is probably about as soft as it will be.

Apparantly there's mist forecast on Thursday aswell, let's hope that's not a problem.

I think it’s 3 French horses as I’m sure I saw David Cottin is intending to supplement Juantos Ganamos (Spanish for together we win) as well as the two Noel George runners

There’s a headline on the RP site saying JJ Slevin won’t be coming over to ride Banbridge but as ever with interesting RP articles it’s behind a paywall

Yeah I looked at a forecast or three and didn't see a whole heap of rain so I took 6s about Banbridge. Pedigrees can be harder to read for jumpers but Beacon Edge and Kilbeg King are also by Doyen out of Presenting mares and they both stay 3 miles.

8 entered for the Christmas Hurdle but no betting...bookies must be waiting until Lossiemouth has one foot on the boat😂 just came up..Lossiemouth 11/10 Constitution Hill 11/8 Sir Gino 2/1 which is ridiculous if Sir Gino doesn't run there will be a massive rule 4. Ladbrokes bunch of gangsters

Obviously my interest lies in the Champion Hurdle in March but I had 12 pounds balance lying in an old account so I stuck it on Constitution Hill at 5/4. Should he win I'll have the lot on Spillane's Tower as he looks certain to get soft ground as Kempton's forecast is for rain all week. just hope it doesn't end up heavy which could be a meeting spoiler

Kempton racecourse issued a weather update. They now expect a pretty dry week with only 5% chance of rain...great news if they are right ground looks like being g/s 🤞

When do we get the decs for Friday 27th ?

Ideal opportunity for Sir Gino to kick off with a winning start to chasing if Ballyburn goes for the Faugheen worth 50k while the Wayward Lad is worth only 30k which is much more than finishing 3rd in the Christmas hurdle on Boxing Day is worth.
If impairePasse misses the Faugheen then Ballyburn would be odds on to run imo and Sir Gino would be a licence to print money in the WL

Willie knows what he is at

What could make the race interesting is if the Real Whacker takes on Il Est Francaise then just about anything could happen.

People say Kempton is an easy course but the speed they go ina King George kake a complete nonsense of that.

if Il Est Francais goes off like a bat out of hell the race could end up going to a stayer and the one that fits the bill best is Corbetts Cross.

I am now leaning towards him
