Kingwell Hurdle

Looking forward to being at Wincanton for this it looks a better race than last year’s edition but a long way short of the race it once was thinking back to the first time I went to see the mighty Alderbrook on his way to Chanpion Hurdle glory

Ian, can I ask where you're accessing these decs?

I thought they weren't released until 10.30-ish and they aren't up at the RP site.

Disappointed that Nemean Lion goes to Haydock for the Rendlesham rather than trying to win this again. He hasn’t looked to me like he wants 3m but what do I know?

Shame on the adventurous spirit of trainers with only four runners, but it’s a good four. Difficult to see past Burdett Road, but the others are no slouches and it wouldn’t be the greatest surprise whoever gets in the winners circle. I’m glad Brentford Hope has found his feet over hurdles - remember when he was going to set the flat world alight?

Burdett Road, top of my form ratings and has the added plus of having the strongest trial/pointer race form line
e.g.

Since 2000, 12 horses have gone from the Cheltenham Greatwood Hurdle Handicap 2m 87y Grade3 17/11/2024, to the following Kingwell, 5 have won and 2 have placed, plus that includes 3 winners of the Greatwood, all of which then won the Kingwell. In the current decs there are 2 runners from the Greatwood, shown below with their finishing positions in the race
Burdett Road(1), Fiercely Proud (6)

I'm happy that he's gone for the Rendlesham, better price for Botox Has

I couldn't have Burdett Road at odds on -I think the mare has a great chance and I would have a doubt about Burdett after his last hurdle incident at Kempton.I think the value play is laying BR at odds on.

One of those days -woke up at 9 and tne market has moved against my 3 bets for the day.Nemean Lion and Apple Away have shortened.Burdett Road has drifted from 1.80 to 2.30-I thought he was a proper lay at odds on.

The market does seem to be talking very strongly against Burdett Road.

Everything else is blue, he is pink and evens or better in a lot of places. I still think if he's on top of his game today he wins by ten.

Hansard missed last Saturday's William Hill Hurdle at Newbury to run in this one instead. Interesting quote in the Racing Post from Gary Moore - " he didn't run badly at Windsor the other day and will get nearly £4,000 even if he finishes last."

Could they be planning to ride it to nick second place ( worth over £15,500 ), or is the Imperial Cup the main target? There aren't too many big two mile handicap hurdles remaining this season.

I’m at Wincanton. It’s dry at the moment but the roadside were very soggy on the way here. The car park is very wet and rain is on the way according to the Met Office. I’d say it will ride worse than the official good/soft

Thank you for that, Viking.

That confirms what the stick readings and other data have been telling me - hope you have a great day.

Can't see that it would be the going that would be the reason for the drift on Burdett Road. When he won over 2m at Cheltenham last season it was soft and they were 20-odd seconds slower than standard. And he won well in sift at Newmarket on the Flat this past season.

I'm tempted...
