If only it were as simple as that.

By the same logic, any horse winning a handicap off 10-0 should win any handicap off 10-0.

If Frodon was handicapped out of his race, what's to stop CC being handicapped out of his? Just because it's the same weight he's carrying he must win? What if he's up against Tiger Roll whose marked has been worked down to 147? Magic Of Light off 147? What if they got Native River down to 147?

It's not about the weight carried. It's the weight relative to his ability. If he's a 160 horse running off 147, fair enough, he'll have to be a serious candidate (he is anyway) but what if there's a 165 horse in the field currently rated 155 and whose trainer gets it campaigned down to 145 as the result of a two-year plot?
 
Cloth Cap could go up further in the weights after 3.0pm on Saturday, without even running...
