Looking ahead to the NH season 2015/2016 proper

NH notebook starting tomorrow for me, Looks a decent card at Warwick.
Vendredi Trois should go close for Emma Lavelle.

Interestingly Cyrus Darius is down to run at Perth on Thursday in what is looking like a nice race. He is arguably the most exciting horse seen out yet this season and could lay down an early marker for the top 2 1/2 m novice chases.
Agreed and it must nearly be time for the "2015/16 Novice Chasers" thread...

Cheers for that Granger.

Not overly impressive

In fact, after watching it on RUK Replay, there was still plenty to take out of it.

He was plenty keen enough early on when he was jumping well. Landed a bit flat footed at a couple but the ease in which he was sent to the front was impressive.

That mistake seemed to knock him about - remember Vautour - and it came at a time when he could be forgiven for blowing up a bit on his seasonal reappearance when you would have thought the trainer would have left plenty to work with for the rest of the season.

The hanging could be attributed to his looking at the crowd possibly but in truth he looked more of a two miler to me and it'd be no surprise to see him pick up a nice novice chase or two over that trip.

The likes of Douvan and Aux Ptit Soins can probably rest easy in their boxes though.

Patrick helps his father with some of the 160 horses which are currently in their yard, he says he equates training horses with "marriage and mortgage"."I'm in no rush. I'd have training down with marriage and mortgage. I like my freedom and it's much easier being a jockey. You can get down off a horse and drive home," he told sports writer Colm Keyes on the Irish Independent Talks stage at the Ploughing Championships.
"As a trainer, you have to explain to the owner, you have to look at the horse the next day and make a new plan. Being a jockey is a much, much easier job. There's a lot of stress. I see what my father does. You think everyone wants to be the champion trainer, but there's so much more to it - you have to deal with so many owners, so many horses, so many staff and there's a lot of stress involved. I'm in no rush to get into that."

As an aside Racing UK is half price for the next four months if you join today, offer available until 9pm today Saturday Sept 26

Talking to Eddie Harty today he has high hopes for Sort It Out who remains over hurdles and Copy Cat who did well to finish fourth in Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel in desperate ground. These are two of my dark horses for upcoming season so anyone with aspirations for the wooden spoon should duly take note !

Fire In Soul - 4yr old owned by Giggi cost €200k
Sharps Choice - for Supreme Racing

Finished the book over the weekend and as usual is a great read and fantastic value at under a tenner.

One other Mullins bumper horse to note is Invitation Only. Owned by the Wylies.
One of the most exciting pointers form the 4yr old crop
