Looking ahead to the NH season 2015/2016 proper

He won a Point aswell

I always wonder about these type races. Surely the sort of low key affair they are comparative to visiting a race track means a horse like CF wouldn't get as buzzed up - especially as this point win happened before he'd been over for his Festival wins.

He was too keen in KG. If he settles he probably would just get it. Do think 2 and a half may just be his best trip from the front.

Hacking around in a point wouldn't convince me either way tbh.

Quel Esperit may have won a point too. can't check just now

Their quality is probably enough to see them home in these fields and wouldn't be as highly wound up as a day at a big track

These should ensure you get somewhat of a decent price in March

Not after he's won the KG with his head in his chest.*

* I realise I'm getting carried away. I'll calm doon eventually, I expect.**

** Probably not, actually.

Creighton refused my (by my standards) exceedingly-polite request to get a photo of him with the ICH trophy as we were spilling-out of the Lep in January. I'm probably still too sore about it to wish him anything other than undiluted failure with his next yoke.

To be fair, he might have been there all night if he'd been seen to stop for one photo. Still....the cu*nt.

Sort of surprised NJH intends keeping MTOY over hurdles this season.

I would have to imagine is more about keeping him sound than it is his ability. Can't possibly win the CH on form.

I would have thought he would make a top class 2 miler over fences but alas NJH knows best.

It's going to be tough on Barry Geraghty in that division having to wear the Green and Gold of MTOY and Hargam V Top Notch and Peace and Co If they all make it to the CH.

Nico will be doing handstands at the thought of having the possible opportunity of riding the likes of Simonsig, Sprinter Sacre, Peace and co if Barry is claimed by JP

Going to be interesting to see how things work out

I confidently predict that Simonsig will re-appear in the Paddy Power Gold Cup......or the Amlin Chase......or the Peterborough Chase....or the Tingle Creek......or not at all.

the Rooneys have taken all 50 of their horses out of McCains yard. I'm not the biggest fan of the trainer but this owner is mad as a box of frogs.

That is a body blow to McCain. Seems like a top bloke, but results over the last couple of years have been relatively disappointing

No surprise, but Mullins also appears to be confirming the Mares race is Annie's festival target
Speaking to OLBG, Mullins said: "She looks great and I may start her off in the Hatton's race Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of November. All being well we'll then aim her at the OLBG mares' race at the Festival."

Rooneys are rumoured to have spent £4m at the sales and next to nothing to show for it. Never been a fan of McCain but in truth the horses were pretty moderate. Tom Malone did most of the buying.....hmmm.

I think they have almost 60 horses now, and very often go £100k + on them. They bought a load of horses for Ewart also - they were all pretty average - so he moved them to McCain and they continued to be average. You can't polish a turd! You'd also put money on Jason McGuire not riding for McCain again.

May be sufficiently tempting to switch Vautour from the Amlin? In any case the 20/1 offered by Bet365 is a bit more realistic than the 12/1 from Coral

Donald McCain is a damn good trainer who needs a bit of luck and he'll soon bounce back.
Unlike our beloved Ginger was he's the real thing and lets not forget he lost
Peddlers Cross, Weird Al, Overturn, Ballybriggan and Cinders and Ashes to retirement or injury over a very short space of time.

Unlike messrs Henderson and Nichols replacing them is an uphill struggle
but when the right horse comes along you are guaranteed he win as many races with them as anyone else.

McCain has a reputation of being likable so this could be a blessing in disguise.
He may have 50 empty boxes but he will fill them again hopefully with 20 or so different owners.

Owner must be a real turd taking 50 horses away because of lack of results.
Any switched on owner/trainer will tell you it's near impossible to buy success in horse racing unless your an oil sheikh :0)

Loyalty, non interference and patience as an owner are essential this dick obviously doesn't have any.
