Apparently, when Irish mare PROFOUND BEAUTY arrived in Australia she was found to be infected with Equine Piroplasmosis. As a result some of the other horses sharing the quarantine facility have to remain in Australia for an extra 18 days before being given clearance. What is Equine Piroplasmosis

EP is a tick-borne disease caused by two parasites, Babesia caballi and B. equi. Certain ticks are biological vectors in which the parasite amplifies and then is transmitted to horses under certain conditions. If horses become affected, fever, anemia, jaundice, hemoglobinuria, central nervous system disturbances, and sometimes death may result. In the acute phase, some infected horses are less severely affected and may show little or no symptoms with no decrease in performance. Those that survive infection in the acute phase may carry the parasites for prolonged periods during which they are potential sources of infection to other horses via tick-borne transmission or mechanical transfer by biting ticks, needles, or surgical instruments

How does 'so you think' s form stack up in the context of the horse trying to win a European G1 next year ?

He obviously will stand the northern season at Coolmore Ireland, and then most likely the southern season at Dato Tan Chin Nam's Think Big Stud.

So You Think is to stand at Coolmore Austrailia in 2011 after an early season European race campaign.

According to The Telegraph he will be aimed at Ascot's Prince Of Wales Stakes and the King George and is set to return to Melbourne for a crack at winning a third Cox Plate.

I would take any "confirmed plan" for this horse with a pinch of salt and that includes his breeding plans as well. Starspangledbanner kept racing despite having mares booked in Australia so who knows how long he will keep racing for. Whats more Coolmore have such a team of older horses for next year that things will change alot.

On a lighter note, its the final day of the Cup carnival.

Highlight races are the Group 1 Emirates Mile and Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic.

The latter will feature the two best sprinters in the world at present, Hay List (rated 128) and the glamour mare Black Caviar (rated 129). Throw in the 3yo colt, Star Witness, its going to be one hell of a final day.
