Money for jumps

I could write a thesis on why you’re wrong, and I’d have the data to back it up. I’ve placed more Lucky 15s than should be humanly possible..

Serious question then Slim if you have the data on it. When you've placed lucky 15's disregarding double the odds and treble the odds concessions because I dont think those are available anymore or at least treble the odds certainly not. Do you think if you'd staked Yankees to the same value instead I.e having the same overall stake and splitting the singles money as extra over the doubles trebles and acc evenly do you not think you'd have fared better long term ? I.e when you've copped 3's and 4's you'd of made a lot more wouldn't that make up for more than the singles returns?

What’s a Gaylord?
My father was quite upset when, in his view, the homosexual community hijacked the word "gay" and adopted it for themselves.

"I used to like to say a lady was 'gay' company," he complained, "meaning I considered her light-hearted and carefree. Now if I say it people think she must be a lesbian."

I had to laugh.

There was a time when the win single was considered the only respectable bet of choice and each-way bets (even thieving ones in "Dead Eights") were the sole province of those lacking moral fibre.

But nowadays the wager that commands respect among your peers is the multiple bet weapon of mass destruction.

Don't piss about and eventually get closed down for nicking cash here and there by cherry-picking ricks, get closed down by sending a share price South come Monday morning by having it right off with some colossal multiple that magical Saturday when the stars finally all aligned.

Then you can visit your dream home, knock on the door, and when the owner opens the door, say: "I've got news for you, fella - you're moving. You're about to get an offer you can't refuse."

Half realising that we're polluting Andy's thread with general chat, apologies Andy (Giggsy wouldnt stand for it) and looked like you've had a bit of a shitter today though 2 close 2nds out 5 bets thus far, fine lines and all that. Grit your teeth chin down and keep swinging !

I think we should probably discuss multiples and gaylords elsewhere on the forum.

General chat is better than I've produced so far tbf.

Urgh. Two didn’t turn up, one unseated rider and one hit the post again. By a neck.

Short story – no winners from five.

No bets at Kelso today. Next up (UK) are Newton Abbot (Friday) and Plumpton on Sunday but first glance these look poor on opportunity so may be well into next week before I resurface.

35 declared for the six races at Newton Abbot on Friday Andy. An absolute shambles. And thats before any non runners of which there will no doubt be one or two.
I was very surprised to see that Jimmy Moffatt has sent a couple down to track where he has definitely never visited before. And both go in the same race, the 3.48.

Good spot on the Moffatt horses, although hard to judge his motivations. I don't even look at a card if 7 aren't running. Always thought there are more variables with less runners where race tactics can be more easily deployed.

As soon as i saw the field sizes i knew i wasnt having a bet. I obviously had a quick look thru the races but a bet was never gonna happen.
I was watching the decs tracking and was actually surprised there were 35 declared. It wasnt looking good around 9.30.

And i'm not massively hopeful for Plumpton on Sunday.

I dont hold out much hope for Warwick on Tuesday either mate. Two of the h'cap chases only have eight entries so they look non starters already. And only twelve in the mares h'cap hurdle so fingers crossed for that one.

Small fields in British Jumps racing is nothing new, but imo it used to be more interesting.

The likes of Silver Buck, Badsworth Boy etc shouldering 12st7lb against a handful of useful rivals on 10st would pack provincial tracks in midweek.

But now, Festivals aside, everything is about Saturday and a midweek card with a C4 and a C5 handicap chase, both attracting under eight runners, three C4 and C5 hurdles attracting few more and a nob-end bumper is about as appealing as a Brighton wall-to-wall C6 handicap card on a miserable day sea fret obscures the entire circuit - and Brighton is likely to have more runners.

There are so many truly appalling British cards both Jumps and Flat nowadays.

Thank goodness me and "Leafy" long since self-appointed ourselves as Irish citizens and consequently have a racing nation to be occasionally proud of.

You're giving Irish jump racing too much credit.

It wasn't so long ago the whole crowd on here was national hunt racing through and through it was a tumbleweed forum during the flat season.

I swore last year I’d disengage this winter. I just can’t take the muppet show it’s become, every little c*** with an opinion on Cheltenham and six billion podcasts spouting drivel. But as the priest said at a funeral today about the woman who passed: if you were speaking ill of these boring little cunts, she would have said, “Hush, leave them to God."

I’m going to heed that advice this winter and let them all run away.

So option A we get down and dirty all winter on the All weather only resurfacing to destroy them at the spring festivals.

Or we know that the more people spouting shite and the more people that follow the shite the better it only creates more value in going against said shite spouting opinions.

For if they all knew what they were talking about we'd be fucked.

You make an excellent point.
