New C4 coverage

the general view on other forums is that TML is even drabber than before..i tend to agree tbh

then again..about 70% of folk like drab..so it may be a success

When you have a really average days racing like it was today Nick Luck trying to jazz it up is a bit grating.

Mick Fitzgerald just doesn't engage brain before opening his trap. Apparently Rocky Creek wasn't highly tried and had no entries last year as a novice hurdler. Apart from running at the Festival that is.

Without wanting to set off an incendiary device (so to speak), if you dont like the coverage dont watch it!

This is the only way that people not able to afford a SKY / RUK package can get to watch racing and at least there is one racing show on the tv? How many other programmes have been taken over by reality or cookery shows?

The new format has only been in place 3 weeks (?) and its a learning curve for all of them, for those used to BBC ways this is way less formal and for those from ATR/RUK its shifting the focus from "professional" race folk to those who just like a little flutter at the weekend.

Just be grateful something is on other than I'm Not A Celebrity Chef Whose Big Brother Cant Get Me Out Of Here.

I was away for the weekend, but insisted on watching the Lanzarote. The coverage on C4 looked not much better or worse than it did before the changes.

Some of the noteworthy bits Bar,

He complained that despite being a good looking boy he had never been raped at school and that it had hurt his pride.

He told the interviewer that he was a great breast man and that her's weren't very big.

He then went off on a rant that she had no right to be offended when she replied that he was rude.

He is a complete tosser-Barney Curley showed him up for the straw man that he is.His hounding of Shane Kelly after his ride on Geordieland in the Gold Cup was particularly shameful.

Mick also repeating that when Nicky Henderson sends a chaser back hurdling that we should watch out was a bit grating. Especially when they used petit robin to emphasise his point who didn't convert back instantly. For an ex jockey his analysis is terrible.

Like Cunningham but the ex bbc guys are disappointing.

Did he really say that?? Plenty of TV presenters and pundits have been rendered unemployable for less.

Managed to read the interview on iPhone but couldn't access it on ipad.He is indeed a horrible individual but the journalist definitely but the boot in.

Former Channel 4 racing pundit John McCririck is seeking £3m in damages from the broadcaster after he was dropped last year.

Preliminary hearing started today, apparently nothing of much interest this morning but some interesting disclosures this afternoon one being that the £5k payments McCririck received for his column in The Sun was actually paid by Betfair who also placed an ad under each of his columns.

According to Greg Wood on Twitter McCririck's statement to the hearing said that at the "highest point" of C4 career he was being paid £180,000/yr, though evidence suggests it was £152,500 for 82 days work in 2001 and then increased by inflation rate until 2005. McCririck also received a £100k sign-on fee from ATR, and then £100k for first year, later changed to a day rate of £2k per day.
