New Year celebrations

Interesting that you say you’ll be surrounded by people who mostly don’t speak any English Tanlic, surely you speak some Thai by now?
I came to Thailand in 1999 and spent 20 years in Bangkok where we spoke mainly English but I did learn a fair bit of Thai...However when I moved permanently 700 miles north to our house in Issan they don't speak Bkk Thai it's a lao version of Thai ..very difficult to understand it's very gibberish..so I don't bother trying but I get by

In 1967 my Mum gave me half a crown to go to the local shop to buy a loaf of bread. When I got to the main road 2 of my friends were standing at the bus stop. I asked where they were going they said to Edinburgh to catch the train to Hawick come with us. So I did and we arrived there on Hogmanay and the Monkees had just topped the charts with I'm A Believer. By this time we were pissed as farts and as we walked into town my pal Dougie tripped and fell smashing his half bottle of Bells he had in his pocket...as it ran down his legs he said quick as a flash "I hope it's blood" to cut a long story short with 7 women to every man we had a ball.....we decided to stay and I went home 9 years later....my Mum's first words were "Where's my bread"😄 My other pal Kit never did come back and still lives there.

Rather a Hot Body to comfort me to be honest but that's not happening and out of honey sadly - plenty of whiskey but its the "good" stuff according to the mother so unlikely to be able to access it as its most likely under lock and key. The fact that my brother sends her it on demand regularly (he's a wine merchant) seems to escape that fact but then again she is Scottish so not the most generous......(ducks behind the sofa waiting for the DO comeback)
Not long in coming back. I can't say anything though, I'm a Yorkshireman so picture a Scot with the generosity removed & you'll get the picture
